In US sport, where there is no relegation and promotion and there is great parity among the teams, the best draft selections (for allocating new talent to the league) are given to the teams with the worst record. No small number of teams have "tanked" their record for a better chance at high draft picks and better new players. I don't think there are any analogues, but it's a bit like tanking in the League Cup or missing out on a Euro spot in order to help your league position later (x10).

Still in Europa for crying out loud, season ain't done yet.

We were NEVER going to replicate last season, with the added fact of Europa and teams figuring out Roberto's system.

The goal now is stop the sinking ship from sinking and rebuild for next season, Martinez isn't going anywhere - we don't have the money to be sacking managers this early into a contract.
