Sauerkraut is great with the right food. You just have to eat fatty stuff with it like this:

White cabbage salad (with bacon, vinegar and caraway seeds) goes well with German language bubble and squeak:

Red cabbage is blue cabbage in German...goes well with Bambi.

For a more Brit recipe, chop up some sausages, slice some potatoes and onions, add some chopped white cabbage, pour stock over them, season and stick in the oven on a low heat until they're nearly done. Turn up the oven for the last 15 minutes.

the sarnie is a bastardisation of the mighty Reuben Sandwich but uses tinned corned beef

Cabbage in bubble and squeak on a monday night with cold meat is heaven. The fan is always on the next day in the office though.

Sauerkraut & Coleslaw are immense, therefore I approve of the humble cabbage.
