Who?
I'm an avid, bordering on the obsessive, follower of our youth setups and have to say that I think we might be on the cusp of something really good (I'm predicting a good run in the FA Youth Cup). Today we also saw Tyias Browning, Jasper Johns and John Lundstram called up to the England U17 team. There is a tremendous potential in our kids.
That having been said: this posting would have been just as valid 2 years ago - substitute the players who have arrived since or been too young with names such as Stubhaug, Krenn, Vidarson, Kinsella, Paddy Boyle, Barnett, Kissock, Irving (still fuming that at least he wasn't given a chance). Having a good youth policy is not something that you achieve like a trophy, it's a continuous process and no club has figured it out precisely. Across the park there is a particularly poignant reminder that spending millions on dozens of young u21 internationals and local talent can produce absolutely no results. Young players need good team atmosphere, playing time and a lot of luck, while I'm certain that we still have the first, most of the players on the list will not get the latter two. All in all, I would say I'm cautiously optimistic, but at most 5-7 of the players on the list above would ever fetch more than 2 million pounds in the transfer market (and that includes Fellaini and Rodwell).
