Thinking of getting a five day subscription for my UK trip. It'll be thitry odd quid. Has anyone else tried it? Is it worth it? Why isn't there free WLAN in cafés and pubs in Ingerland? Ffs.

Most pubs and cafes do have free wifi, but you might have to buy a pint or mochafochachino to access it.

Can you not just your mobile to do the basic stuff ?

It is, but roaming would be even more expensive and a bit unpredictable, too.

Roaming can be a nightmare.

My friend got hit with a £2000 after a week in Turkey using Facebook on her phone.

Ouch ! Guess it depends on what you use it for. I just got back from holiday and was charged a fixed price of £10 for up to 50Mb - which was fine for checking email and doing simple browsing but wouldn't be much use if you were up/downloading lots of images / porn.

Why else would he be using the internet? Apart from here of course.

Fair point Mr Faulty, I just assumed that he would only be interested in following GOT. Porn can of course be downloaded before you leave home and saved for later use, but that might not be an acceptable compromise.

Well the thing is I also have to communicate to people on Facebook etc and that's a real bw hog. Also as I haven't planned much specifics but Everton I need to check things on the go. Need to sort out how to recharge my phone tho as it's a real battery hog.
