Now some may not be proud of their heritage, but were all here in it together. The British Isles. Were all part of that makeup.
Watching Top Gear last night and their hat tip towards the British sports car and how we used to have 140 car makers in 1910, and in 1930 odd we exported something like 60,000 cars and only imported 35. Now nothing wrong with a foreign car at all, but then there is nothing wrong with a British car either.
But many here may have had links with the British car industry, and all types of industry for that matter - and whether or not it is all down to Thatcher and the Tories is by the by - this country was always on the fast track to imports over exports - as it's cheaper.
Love or hate Clarkson he did say something quite moving - "It's not that we don't make cars anymore, we don't make anything anymore". That is hard hitting, as a nation that provided whole towns and cities with work from it's industry, and to see it just disappear because we would quite frankly rather someone else do all the hard work.
It's terrible.
Where are the handcrafted people of this nation? Is there any point getting a trade? Should we just not learn how to use a telephone and be done?
They all have it so wrong.
When I was in school they were all trying to get us to learn German because that is where all the jobs will be - strangely we would have been better off learning Spanish because that's where quite a lot of people went to work. More so than Germany anyway.
So what's next? Over to you Davek!
