The actor Brian Wilde known to millions as Foggy Dewhurst of Last Of the Summer Wine and Mr Barrowclough in Porridge has died in his sleep at his Hertfordshire home, he was 86.

As a straight man his was a brilliant comedy actor, his work was admired by many fellow actors including Ronnie Barker who thought his pathos and timing was second to none

Was great as Foggy. Really was like an older Liam Fogarty
I love Last of the Summer Wine, he will be a loss.

always knew you had good taste mate:lol:

It is a little odd that Foggy was an answer in the quiz I closed yesterday, the day he died:(

I must say that the BBC have treated this guys death with utter disdain. He starred in so many hit shows yet they couldn't even give him an obituary on ceefax, that is disgraceful and they should be ashamed of themselves(n)

thought he was great and think its sad the way the beep have treated the news, his best role for me was in porridge his one to ones with Ronnie Barker where briliant still watch them now

I remember when Bill Owen died, he had recorded his last episode on the battlefields of Europe playing the last post on a bugle, it was very poignant. They also accorded him many tributes, and quite rightly so but this time it has been but a mere news item, that is sad. UK TV Gold have played tributes to him which makes the Beebs omission even more remarkable(n)
