Spain has closed air space over the whole country except Andalucia after air traffic controllers called in sick en masse.

And we thought we had it bad with the snow....

They'll probably bomb Guernica while theyre at it , kid ,..

Except that it was the Nazis wot did that.

But, yeah, tell me about it. I was in the queue to board the 19:00 flight from Stansted to Madrid tonight when news came through that the flight was cancelled. Very odd experience, looking at the plane while it is cancelled, for some reason. Ah well. money lost. Weekend ****ed, as well.

I'm a union man myself but, **** me, que hijos de putas! Cabrones! Me cago en sus leche!

The euro traffic control types do like a good strike.

This was complete arl arse though, with it not being announced or pre warned, instead they've left a lot of people stranded tonight and a lot of airport and airline staff getting shouted at due to their fault.

They're [Poor language removed] bags. Perhaps they should have thought twice about taking advantage of a currency change to bang the prices up and bum tourists all the show. The teds.

€200,000 a year, they're on. That's three times what a British ATC is typically on. And they did it by ringing in sick en masse, the f*cking cowards. It also happens to be a holiday week in Spain with Monday and Wednesday being bank holidays so tens of thousands of Spaniards were aiming to travel to see relatives before Christmas. It is ordinary people who suffered in this wildcat strike, not the people the ATCs are in dispute with. C*nts.

They regularly strike, but then so do various other workers at airports across Europe like baggage handlers, airport and transportation staff as they know they can hold the airport to ransom.

Spanish contracts are amongst the best protected in Europe as after the fall of Franco they piled a whole host of lavish rights on the average worker. Any foreign company working there is always keen to avoid putting too many staff on Spanish contracts.

Loads of holidays and untouchable.
