Boxing

If anyone still believes these Jake Paul fights aren't more scripted than a West end drama then I have a bridge for sale if you're interested.
I only saw the 1 min 45 second BBC clip. Even in that there were multiple opportunities for Joshua to really step in and hurt him. Also, thought Joshua wasn't putting anywhere near full power into his punches.

He wasn’t. You don’t need to be a boxing expert to see that Joshua was going at about 30% of his full capability. Joshua landed a lazy jab in the first round. Paul’s facial expressions changed straight away. You could literally see the fear on his face. There was numerous times in the “fight” that Joshua was in range and he wasn’t throwing a single shot. The way Joshua fights, if that was against a real live opponent, he’d of launched them punches at will.

He dropped an actual fighter down in the first round when he fought Ngannou.

Someone needs to put these two fights next to each other and show what an utter farce that Jake Paul "fight" was.

He is seriously bad at boxing, but you’ve gotta admire the lad. How he’s got people believing that he’s a legit boxer, shows how dumb people are on the internet.

He’s a marketing genius, even after that farce last night, the narrative remains, he went how many rounds with Joshua so he’s actually good. People can slate him all they want, but he’s made the walk, scripted or not. He’s actually gone out there and fought people and put his time and effort into boxing. He’s raised the profile of Boxing but also tarnished it.

The talk that he wasn’t area level is probably a bit un-true but English/british/european level he’s not even close. There is a reason he doesn’t call out active cruiserweights cos he knows he’ll get destroyed but if he keeps getting this attention and money. He’s gonna continue it cos people get angry, annoyed by him but everyone still tunes in and he’s making a fortune from it, so good on him.

Difference is Ngannou came to fight and was happy to stand toe to toe with Joshua so he made it very easy for Joshua to hit him

Paul’s tactic was to run around the ring and avoid getting hit

You can’t really compare the two

If Paul went toe to toe with Joshua the fight would have been over in 1 round

Difference is, Ngannou is better than Paul but this isn’t making excuses. Ngannou is easier for Joshua to beat than Jake Paul is because of the height difference. Anyone who knows boxing or watches Joshua fight, knows he struggles to be effect against smaller fights.

I don't know if marketing genius is the right term.

WWE has been convincing children their fights are real for decades, Paul isn't the first to do that but he is the first to know he could easily exploit the naive snotty nosed YouTube obsessed generation that made him famous in the first place through obviously staged boxing fights.

Who is paying real money to watch those fights? It's kids, nobody who takes the sport seriously believes any of it. I won't credit him for being the first to take advantage of the naivety of children.

He got his jaw broken for his 100 million there so fair play for that.

Everyone he calls out is someone who he can make very rich and is very willing to play along.

Shame on AJ for tarnishing what he legitimately accomplished by participating in that pantomime.

I never want to see him box again, he's an embarrassment to the sport for last night.

And anyone who watched both fights knows there's no way what happened last night wasn't pre-scripted.

One real punch was all it would have taken and there's no reason he had to wait four rounds before throwing anything close to a real punch. He's obviously pulled punches the entire fight.

It’s shameful but satisfying seeing Jake Paul dropped. That should be a lesson now to him not to call out proper boxers, he lucked out on an aging Tyson taking the bag for a split decision because that fight last night wouldn’t have happened if Tyson had took his seriously, Paul would have been finished

And yet the internet is full of grown men and 'proper' boxing purists who stayed up till stupid o'clock to watch it.

They're the ones who've done a huge amount of online marketing for it by constantly fuelling chatboards, comments sections and forums all over the internet. They stayed up till 4 in the morning to post live commentary about what a joke it is.

They're the ones viewing and posting links to videos of all these other joke fights to draw comparisons.

They're the ones who moan about 'influencer' boxing and what a disgrace it is while ignoring the actual history of boxing be it Joe Louis Bum of the Month Club or Ali's series of ridiculous exhibition fights.

I really don’t agree with the last bit. AJ was going to do a warm up fight against some random anyway after so long out of the ring. Why not take £70m or whatever it ends up being for a glorified work out?

Boxing has been embarrassing itself for years, may as well at least get paid off the back of it.
