Boxing. Should results of each round be announced?

Just watched a boxing program on television where an interesting point was raised.

During a boxing match should the scores be announced at the end of each round? The way things are the contestants do not know how they are doing in the mind of the judges until the result is announced at the end of the contest. Should this change to allow contestants to change tactics or would it be wrong for the sport?

Opinions.

Nope, but I think the judges should be made to explain why they score each round the way they do to, or something like that to end the quite blatant corruption within the sport.

If they can't justify their scorecards logically then they should be banned from the sport.

there should certainly be a stronger review system post fight, if these fellas jobs are on the line then they might be less likely to pander to home town decisions, or the larger promotion companies, but then we come back to the larger problems in boxing and having a strong independent governing body

Each scorecard is revealed after a bout, I don't believe they should be made known during a fight, it can spoil the action if one guy knows he's clearly ahead going into the closing stages it will lead to him, quite rightly, taking less risks.

The one that springs to mind is the Alvarez Trout bout petering out with Alvarez aware he was well ahead, leading to a poor last few rounds.

There are quite a few scorecards deserving of a ban of some description to act as a deterrent, as it stands I don't see any punishment for these ridiculous decisions.

This.

It shouldn't happen because it's a big part of the sport to plan which rounds to win and lose. Every fighter, unless they're miles ahead of their opponent, knows they have to throw at least a couple of rounds if it goes the distance. The opponent could figure out which rounds they plan to throw from this.

There needs to be a better way of scoring the fights IMO. i'm not really sure what just yet but amateur and pro is seeing some awful robberies lately.

Worst one I've ever seen was Tyson Fury vs. John McDermott. The scandal on that one was that the referee actually gave it to Fury comfortably by six rounds, when in reality he lost by a good five or six rounds. Terry O'Connor it was, blatant cheating and he's supposed to be one of the top refs around. Corrupt as they come, blatantly protecting a rising marketable talent from his first loss.

Instances like that need to be eradicated. A referee should never be able to call a fight alone, and the judges should be scrutinised for their decision making process.

How on Earth you can let one person decide a winner of a fight is beyond me

Yeah Tubes I remember that now you mention it. He was an awful specimen Mcdermott but he could motor on and bang a bit. Easily won that fight. Was for a lonsdale belt too I think?

Where there's money there's corruption.

one of the strangest fighters I've ever seen McDermott, looked like a body double for warren in 'theres something about mary' but clearly somehow in good shape, solide pro, a proper 'gatekeeper' for prospects, and seriously hard done by against Fury

Boxing is the worst shape I've seen any Sport for a long, long time.

I'd rather watch Professional Nail Polishing than any of the no-names pretending to fight each other.

That being said, yes, I think there should be. And also touch sensitive pads in the gloves to register contact.

And maybe the introduction of weapons. Chairs, maybe some steel steps and possibly a table or two.

Maybe even a Ladder. Just general household items strewn across the ring.
