Just when you think the world can't be any more ridiculous, boxing has chipped in with its very own rags to riches story. A fighter living on the mean streets of Philly fighting against all the odds and a speech impediment to become world champion.

Who you cry? Hopkins? Gatti? Ward? no Boxing very new Hall of Famer is none other than.......

Sylvester Stallone!! fecking ridiculous, dear boxing he is not real!! it is a film.

I just thought this was utterly gobsmacking, a none existent fighter entered into HoF. Ok Rocky did higher the profile of boxing o an extent but HoF really!!!

Thoughts please:@

You must have missed him punching the ancestors out of Creed in the rematch mate. Won that title fair and square.

i truly believe that mate, he was a phenomenal sports star, but was no where near the greatest boxer

Who would you say was the best ever boxer then? I think Manny Pacquiao might well be the greatest ever when he retires unless politics strays his focus.

There have been a lot of awesome boxers Ali was the full package thats why people rate him as the greatest but he wasn't unbeaten.

Fair enough mate, if you consider where he come from the boxers he beat, the trends he started, i believe he was.

There are some quite close (particularly those pound for pound )

I think Sugar Ray Robinson was an unreal fighter, along with Henry Armstrong, Joe Louis & Mike Tyson to a lesser extent the battlers like Jack Dempsey and Sugar Ray Leonard could even claim to be the best.

Personally i have watched Ali fights over and over again, for his size and the competitive nature of the sport, he was like a flyweight fighting at heavyweight.

He was an incredible athlete, and i agree to some extent that it can be argued he wasn't the greatest.

Duran. Anyway, I wonder how much Stallone has contributed to American boxing recently to guarantee this much needed jump to his career/publicity.

This thread will be good, it'll be continue to be 'one up manship'

Stood at goodison waving his scarf around he did.

Our number one fan now stands shoulder to shoulder with the greats.

I knew there was a reason boxing wanted him in the hall of fame haha.

I could understand being in a category about boxing influence but he has been inducted as a fighter, to me thats just nonesense. He helped on 'The Contender' as well but still he is no fighter.

Ye he's no fighter, but how many boxers started boxing due to the rocky influence? So indirectly he has done a lot for boxing. Sugar Ray Robinson the greatest for me!

Thats what i said earlier, yes he has done a lot for boxing indirectly but not as a fighter and there are other categories he could have gone in, as a boxing fan it just isn't right, petty but it still irks me.
