Player Valuation: £60m
Is his loyalty to his manager going to cost them their place in the Premier?

If Southgate was at any other club, surely he would have gone by now.
They were awful again today, and got booed off AGAIN. That's now 15 games without a win in the league.

I really like Gibson and Southgate seems to be a decent bloke but its about time to get rid of him. They are playing awful and look if you look at some of Gareth's decisions they've been awful. 12M for Alves, 6M for Mido, 5M for Huth, selling Cattermole. I think Tugay is decent and Wheater, when healthy has looked good but I don't rate any of the other players.

Stability is a crucial thing when trying to achieve anything. You need a well thought out plan, and then time to implement that plan. The current trend for chopping and changing every few months is really a reflection that the men in charge have no plan and no idea how they are ever going to achieve success.

Where this falls down of course is when the plan you're using is a bad one. In which case you need the courage to change course. The problem of course with this is that it's costly. You only have to look at how much Chelsea have spent on firing their last few managers. Most clubs don't have that option. You also have the expense of changing your squad as it's rare for a new manager to like the same players as his predecesor.

So it takes time and money. You may get a short term bounce in fortunes, like Spurs did when Redknap first took over, but they're settled back into their previous form and are far from safe. When you hear Redknap bemoaning the lack of quality in his squad and consider the money spent assembling that squad you begin to understand the difficulties faced by chairmen. They back one manager with millions, sack him, then have to do the same with another, with no real idea how success can be achieved.

It's unfortunate, they're the type of club that wouldn't make it back for a long time if they were relegated, or even worse, drop down again.

Downing, Wheater, Tuncay, Alves, Aliadiere, Adam Johnson and Huth would all leave, they'd be left with a team full of kids - not very good ones at that.

They had some young players in their academy who looked very good at 18-20 but aren't playing or applying their trade on other teams. Something tells me that if Moyes was their manager he'd have them regularly in the top 10.

I like Gibson, i especialy like the way he doesnt bow to bigger clubs when they make bids for their players! It makes finacial sense really not to be sacking your mananger if you look at Newcastle and Chelseas books.

Not a big Southgate fan has to be said.

Credit can turn to criticism very easy, Pompey and Balckburn took a pasting for sacking their young English managers, but if it turns out to be the right move and each of those teams stay up and Boro go down whos doing the best job Gibson or the lads at the other clubs.

I think Southgate can do well. He's got the best record against the top 4 clubs than any other manager in the league outside that top 4 (I believe).

He's just made a few clanger buys, especially in his striker department since the Yak went to some shiit club that wear blue :)
