That is the gist of it mate, anyone involved in drugs is so because they use them or make profit from them, the later being the biggest scumbags of the lot because of the social misery they bring

Apart from the highlighted part that vaguely addresses my query, the rest isn't very informative, Monty. Your opinion of people involved with drugs enlightens me a little about you, but not about Ward. He seems to generate a wide divide in opinion, it seems, presumably based on what people know & believe about him & the crime he was jailed for. Sadly, he isn't the first nor will he be the last former Everton player to have an unfortunate life outside of his Everton career.

I wasn't even aware that Ward had been involved in narcotics or had ever done time for it, I think this took place in Liverpool itself, and must have passed unnoticed elsewhere, I don't remember hearing about it.

That said, I don't recall much of his time here, was a useful player at WHU, joined up at Goodison, around the time of the Johnston/Beardsley signings/era, scored twice I think it was against defending champions Arsenal very early one season, what I most remember was that goal against the [Poor language removed], and McManaman and Grobbelaar doing their 'Tyson/bruno' thing after. :)

Cottee scored late on in a 2-0 win, you know the one, Autumn 1993 I think that was.

Dennis, I can only let you have my personal opinion about drugs which is based on the fact of having seen the profits and misery that trade brings..........many have excuses for getting into drugs but few admit to 'doing it for the money' which is the major motivation for all dealers

As I said, Monty, that enlightens me a little as to your view on drugs, but not really about Ward who is the subject of the thread & my original question. But thanks for sharing your opinion anyway.
