Very poor mate, but at least we had one season of Camelot and not eleven seasons of drudgery - alleviated only by a handful of games when the ball didn't have snow on it for most of the match.

The Camelot season had the consolidation of all the Moyes's season as it's basis, we moved up to 5th from 6th (albeit with many more points). Don't get me wrong, Moyes could annoy me as much as anyone, at times it was drab and he probably stayed 2-3 years too long at the club (not that Bill was ever going to ask him to leave) but without Moyes in 2001-02 we simply would not have been a Premiership club. Easy to gloss over that now.

Oh aye. I've always battered Moyes' style of play, but I always acknowledge his impact. However, didn't he always love rubbing it in that he'd steadied the ship? He used that as a base to build a story about us being a nothing club that were lucky to have him.

And that ^^^ is the unalloyed truth.

Every single one of us would've brassed it out for the big payday after signing the mega contract. Doesn't change the fact he was a brutal football manager though. Absolutely brutal lol but the fact Dave still holds a candle for him has softened my ire towards him somewhat. But jesus he was brutal.

But what about Martinez telling us 0-0 draws at Palace were incredible and cup semi finals and being the last English team in Europe were achievements? You fell for those ones.

I went to that Palace game, got back to the car afterwards and turned on the radio just in time (sadly) to hear RM's post-match thoughts and the "incredible, incredible" stuff. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Yes, we did play with 10 men but all the same.....
