Correct me if I'm wrong and I asked that question before, but doesn't Everton have something like an academy budget? This being completely outside the transfermoney earmarked for the first team. Schepers having his trial with the youth/reserves, would make you think, he'll go straigth into the academy.

No idea lid. He and his parents may be thinking over a deal as we speak. I think most parents now know we are the club to be at to develop. So i hope he does choose to go to us.

Anybody got any update on this young lad? A 'rumour' on another forum suggest he has gone back because we didn't value him the same as his current club, surely we knew the asking price prior to the trial?

Obviously haven't a clue if he was (or will be) any good but would be interested if anybody has any news/updates.

We've obviously had a close look at him, if we don't move for him then the club don't think he's worth the valuation his club have put on him. It will be nothing to lose sleep over.

Everton have rejected their “first refusal” to sign Dutch Under 17 international Bob Schepers.

Dutch media are saying that he had a good trial at Everton, but the Blues are unwilling to pay the price his club were asking.

His appearance at Clyde was so exciting it even prompted the Echo to run a story claiming Everton were going about things in a very “cloak and dagger” way by hiding their trialists, but as Schepers has now gone to Groningen where he will join the reserves, it’s hard to see why.

De transfer van Bob Schepers naar Everton is om financiële redenen afgeketst. Dit meldt de Leeuwarder Courant dinsdag. De achttienajrige linksbuiten, die de afgelopen twee seizoenen uitkwam voor SC Cambuur, werkte bij de Premier League-club een succesvolle trainingsstage af.

Everton bleek desondanks niet bereid om de vraagprijs op tafel te leggen voor de talentvolle voetballer. Omdat de overgang naar Engeland niet doorgaat, heeft Schepers zich inmiddels gemeld bij FC Groningen. Bij de Eredivisionist zal de linkeraanvaller voorlopig in het tweede elftal gaan spelen.

Door het samenwerkingsverband dat Cambuur met de Groningers heeft, blijft de jeugdige voorhoedespeler overigens wel beschikbaar voor het eerste elftal van de Leeuwarder eerstedivisionist. Bij Cambuur debuteerde Schepers in het seizoen 2008/09 in het betaalde voetbal en speelde hij vooralsnog zeven competitieduels.

According to Tuesday's Leeuwarder Courant, Bob Schepers transfer to Everton has collapsed, because of financial reasons. The 18 year old left winger who played for Cambuur's youth academy for the last 2 seasons, had a succesful trial with the Premier League club.

However, Everton couldn't be convinced to pay the aking price and Schepers therefore left for FC Groningen. Schepers will be playing in their youth team for the time being.

Because of the coöperation agreement between Cambuur and Groningen, Schepers is still allowed to play for Cambuur's first team. Schepers made his debut for Cambuur during the 08/09 season and played 7 games for the first team thusfar.

If he has got potential then why didn't we pay that? It's only about £400,000. Probably a similar amount to what we got for Jutkiewicz.

It's the local newspaper. I guess they are in direct contact with Cambuur. So sadly, I think it's reliable enough to believe we missed out on him.
