Ronnie Goodlass, who also moved to Holland around the same time, reckoned there was more money in Dutch football in the 70's than there was in England.
I guess that was the prime time for Dutch football. They had some great players - Cruyff, Neeskens, Haan, Krol, Rep, Rensenbrink, the van der Kerkhof brothers. One of the best international sides of all time and great to watch.

Johnny Rep, was there ever a cooler name! I agree about the quality of that Dutch side, an absolute crime they never won the World Cup!

When Latch scored for Swansea, it was a header, I think at the Street End, he had a big clap from the crowd.

It was a bit surreal. Not sure I've ever seen a goal against us clapped by our fans before, or since.

Although I seem to remember there were a few smiles and a collective sigh of relief a couple of times the season before last at home versus Man City?

There was a pic in the echo of Dave Thomas haring down the wing on bullens road,me as a kid and my old man were directly in the shot,my old fella worked in the same building as one of the echo photographers and got a blown up version of the pic!great game and the whole ground(barring old Gordon lee!!)applauded mcmagics goal!
