Everton have announced plans for a state of the art retail and administration development adjacent to the Goodison Park stadium.

Chief Executive Robert Elstone revealed the news to a Shareholders Forum before the clash with Everton Chile on Wednesday.
And the Blues are confident that planning permission will be awarded for the new building, which will sit within the Goodison Park footprint. The project could be operational by summer 2011.

The planned building, on the current site of the Club Everton lounge at the Park End of the stadium, will house a retail store, museum, cafe, corporate hospitality lounge and office space.

The four-floor, self-funded £9m development will also free up space within Goodison, meaning that capacity for corporate hospitality inside the stadium itself can be expanded.

Mr Elstone also confirmed that the plans will not negatively affect the cash available to David Moyes as it will be taken from extended deals with catering partner Sodexo and retail partner Kitbag.

In fact, it is forecast that the development will boost revenues and improve Everton's bottom line profit. The Forum was also assured that the proposed development does not mean an end to the search for a site in the city for a new stadium.

Chairman Bill Kenwright told the Forum: "One of the prime focual points behind this new addition to Goodison was to say 'we're proud of Goodison and we want to show you how proud we are'. We want to give the fans something and I think it looks terrific.

"As long as we are here and has long as it doesn't put in jeopardy the finances for David Moyes we will do whatever we can with Goodison Park. Our partners have been phenomenal in helping us with this one, but it doesn't mean the search is not going on for a new stadium within the Liverpool city boundary!"

His sentiments were echoed by Chief Executive Robert Elstone: "This new scheme is totally self-funded by partners so there is no net cost to the Club. In fact, it is cash-positive from the start.

"Even if a new stadium scheme came to light very quickly it would take a number of years to realise. Our discussions with Liverpool City Council have genuinely been more positive but the crux of the matter is we need substantial enabling support and the council see that as being difficult and hard to deliver.

"If I'm managing expectations, in the current climate it is hard to foresee a new stadium in the short-term or medium-term but it doesn't mean we will not continue to pursue it vigorously and enthusiastically."

Elstone saying it doesn't mean a move is off the cards, but it's hard to see them shifting with something like this in the offing. They should be looking to get a second tier on the Park End. People who said during the Kirkby fiasco that we'd be at GP in 10 years time were spot on.

The build includes 'office space'. Doesn't say whether that's commercial to rent, or club offices.

It's not great, but it's a start I suppose.

Apparently it's being funded by Everton partners, so they say it won't affect the transfer kitty. If that's true, then this is great, because they've said it will add more revenue into the club and it could be operational as soon as next year.

I agree mate i cant see them moving to a new site after this - but i always said after Kirkby this would be the case for the short to medium term future (Bob actually quoted me)., though it seems the club arent funding this rather our retail partners are. I dont see the point in landlocking the stadium even more. Id like to see the break down of the deal im sure Sodexo and Kitbag arent doing it for their good of their health - what share of the profits etc. Id like to know what increased capacity this gives us in Goodison as well.

On a comleatley unrealted note id like to know what they plan to do with Bellfeild.

It says retail space so I'm sure Kitbag are funding this to give them the opportunity of running a megastore on Goodison grounds.

I think the article implies that the club's deal with them has been extended...in other words, they're bringing forward payments due down the line from these companies to pay for the build. I'd imagine it's that.

As opposed from 50ft away mate in the existing megastore, i cant see how it makes that much of a difference especialy to a retailer who has a fixed term contract - they must be getting something out of it. I just really hope we are to.

On the face of it, it looks good to me. If, as they say, it will allow us more space for corporate facilities inside the ground thats great news, and hopefully will bring much needed funds into the coffers. It might not be a new stadium but its still a small step in the right direction.

There it is, could the current megastore (only refurbed last year) be the site of that hotel the board have been pining for?
Sadly BK has dropped a small one with the following "but it doesn't mean the search is not going on for a new stadium within the Liverpool city boundary!" Sorry Bill, I have always been onside, but since when was inside the city boundary so important?

To add, if it means the current fiasco of the 'Treatment in the Tent' is consigned to history, then that will be just fine.

I think the idea is to move the Kitchens and existing corporate hospitality out there, they mentioned increased capcity in the stadium - i wonder by how much.

i'm just fuming that they'd have to knock down the wall with everton written in bricks.

why are they even bothered about more corporate boxes inside the ground, they can't even sell the ones we have now.

If the increased capacity is to be corporate, then that means the Park end will be extended, because they cannot bulldoze the mid section of the park end to make room, so it must mean a band on top of what we have now, and with such a platform it would make sense to leave expansion on top of that open to possibility surely.
What will happen to the empty corner where the Bullens meets the Park end?
