As you well know our youth teams generally play 433 formation and each of those named play as one of the front three. If you have your way they will be competing for those 3 positions with at least 4 strikers plus the likes of Lavery.

If we look at the first team squad we have Tosun, Niasse and DCL. Personally I think we will sell Niasse and bring in a top forward. This would leave us with 3 forwards.

In the u23s I may be wrong but only Hornby seems to be any great shakes so we have 1 u23 forward of quality.

I would say we could have 4 forwards in the first team squad with one position going to the u23 player most in form.

For the u23s itself we could have 3 forwards and another going on loan.

so 4+4 = 8 and we seem to have 4.

Personally id say we could sign 3 or 4 more u23s and Hirst, Campbell and this chap could fit the bill.

Yeah why not, we haven’t had a striker who scores goals regularly in our U23s for many years, last season’s leading goalscorer I think was Charsley, this season probably Henen, even Hornby hasn’t scored enough. We need a right back, and one forward who can score goals to play alongside Hornby and Gordon , ....... then I might start to look forward to next season , at least at U23s level.
