Blue Union Board Angst

You'd be happy if we went into the season with one decent striker (who wants out) and no obvious first choice goalkeeper?

Look, if you told anyone in June our biggest signing this summer would be Bolasie but we'd lose Stones in the process there'd be mayhem. You wouldn't be happy - no one would be.

Well we are mate, and off of here, I dont know many Evertonians who are wetting the bed like some on here. Yes the squad isnt perfect, but there is time for that to be addressed. We went all last season with only one decent striker, so why all of a sudden would the fanbase be going mental about it?They aren't. Just this forum.

And you seriously thought one of Stones or Rom wasn't leaving? The lad put a transfer request in last year, obvious he was off. I'm gonna try and stay calm. If the window closes and we havent splashed the cash, I'll be with you in questioning whats happening.

Results on the pitch will determine matters. If we do ok, things will be serene. If we falter then questions will mount up.

As said, I think the new owners have made a rod for their own back by failing to spell out their plans and seemingly encouraging the hype around their takeover.

That's what they want though dont they. They wont want to downplay it, we are trying to move away from "Plucky little Everton". Hopefully we get a result on Saturday mate, that should ease some of the tension.

Just this forum? Check the thread on TEF. Or NSNO. Site owner on here has said before that he feels GOT is indicative of the mood.

Are you honestly using last season to back up your case? As soon as Lukaku down tools we were goosed. Rumours are he's seen his bum already this summer.

We're all calm - what are we going to do about it? - but this £100m, buy anyone malarkey that was going round in June has been proven to be palpably false. If Stones was so inevitably going, why not invest the potential money earlier if liquidity isn't an issue?

But then he gets sold and we make three bids. Right.

Lukaku will be going nowhere - and it's in his interests (whether he likes it or not) to show the Prem what he's capable of. If he sulks and turns gash, he's going nowhere again as none of the CL clubs will be interested in signing him. It is of course only rumours that he wants out as there are counter rumours that there has been a big change of heart over the summer by Lukaku and his agent and wants to stay. The next few weeks will reveal what is true - but there is no way he will be allowed to leave without a replacement being in place. Koeman is no mug.

But when I go the match mate you dont hear a murmur. Even when people turned against BK you had others clapping him and having planes flown over the stadium supporting him. On here you'd be lynched for backing him. So no i dont think here or others is representative at all.

And yes I am using last season as the situation in that position hasnt changed. We still only have Rom. Rumours are that he has yes, but has he or his agent said anything lately? No. And if you are into the ITK stuff, our own Esk seems to think he'll sign a new deal.

The reason for selling stones has been done to death. We could only increase wages by 7m plus any non broadcast profit (40m from stones). Why would we splurge all our money, then say city backed out the deal. We would then fall foul of STCC rules and whatever penalties that incurs. Would you have put all our eggs in basket and risked a penalty?

Seriously how long do people think it takes to change an entity the size of Everton?

Well let's be honest, it takes a while the club is rotten on so many levels...

Well who's caused this, Elstone and Kenwright... Kenwright will go hopefully when Morshiri buys his shares but why on earth is Elstone still there and now Baxendale?

Don't believe in protests but the way I see it is the last 10 games of last season we were far and away the worst team in the league. Christ knows what would of happened if our slump had occurred a month previous. We don't look any better now in pre season admittedly but the whole body language of the players and now the manager doesn't look good in my opinion. We can ill afford a bad start to the season.

If the board knew that Stones was definitely going then they should have sold sooner and given the manager at least a chance to bring in fresh faces. I'm not convinced by Moshiri one bit at this moment in time and don't think we have a hope in hell of attracting the kind of players that have been touted on here.

He was at the Euros, and Pep didn't start work until later. Plus, we can't sell until someone offers close to what we're asking.

There's a guy on a college basketball board I read who made a post railing against the facilities guy at the arena. Said he was incompetent for, among other things, not opening doors and windows to cool the place down. He went on to say this was further proof of the problems that exist throughout the entire athletic program, the university administration and the state government. I made a post admiring his clever parody of all the ways that fans can find to get upset at their team, but it turned out he was completely serious.

The transfer window (which is not over) has not met expectations. But it's already better than last year's where we added Besic from some nowhere league, Clev on a free, Aaron Lennon after he didn't even get a number at Spurs, and Geri on a glorified loan. Remember the posts about Spur's fans reactions, "How can he choose Everton over us!"? You don't, because there weren't any. This year we've gotten players (and a manager) from EPL teams that actually wanted to keep them. That seems different to me.

But that doesn't even matter, because the real proof will be stuff that can be objectively measured: match results, a new stadium, higher commercial revenues. And it is not possible for any of these things to have happened yet!

In my opinion any one who is complaining now about sell-to-buy, or poor marketing, or almost anything else at all, is not being realistic. In fact, you are being so unrealistic that when you write these things you are not telling us anything about the club. Instead, you are telling us about yourselves. And what you are saying is, 'I really need to cheer up.'

That's not the point I was making. I'm saying there must have been some conversation between Stones and EFC after we denied him last season, my point is we must have known he was leaving so we should have been prepared for it. We also knew that any club in the world would have bid £40m+ for him.
We look like a selling club at this moment in time.

Sorry but also thought Pep signed for Shitey in January?

All about perceptions it might not turn out that way buy you're spot on, at the moment it seems we have sold Stones to buy players.
