I have a message from the then owner, Jim.

Sorry - been away a few days and seems like a few on here think I have been spinning a yarn. Not so.
Anyway, Jim ran Uncle Jacks (as in Walker) in Darwen and always had visiting fans in before Blackburn games - not afterwards. He tells me pre match was sometimes horrendous, all the usual stuff of that era.
Jim put up with it all but tells me there was one game each year he looked forward to . There was no hassle, the visitors were the most polite fans he has ever met. They brought back and even helped wash empty glasses, hotpot dishes etc. tidied up before they left and departed for the game in friendly, good and sober manner.
Jim - now retired - remembers and really appreciates those fans. He has asked me to pass on his gratitude and fond memories to the fans of that club - EVERTON.
