Bill Kenwright OR USA Consortium

Having just heard Liverpool have been brought by a RED SOCK...I wondered what it would be like For Everton to be bought out by Yanks...

I know Bill Kenwright has had his critics, but I think overall I would prefer Bill Kenwright over any Yank owning the club... At least Bill knows the club through and through and I believe he has the best interests of the club at heart...

As people know here I am not Moyes's biggest fan or of his style of play but have to concede he has done a fantastic job for us and brought stability to our club and Moyes afterall was brought in By Bill Kenwright...

In the future i hope we get a big investment instead of an outright takeover of the club...I would hate for us to be taken over and then left in the lurch like the likes of Portsmouth or Sheff Wednesday...:)

Not sure on this one. Those RS fans are going to be embarrassed with their banners "Yanks Out" when it is another set of Yanks who are buying.

Have it right though, the only feller keepin us in the prem and where we are is david moyes and not kenwright.

He lucked on a manager who can work with nothing which is a rarebreed.

Personally i wouldnt care if bin laden or the kkk owned the club just as long as we were winnin goblets all the time

Easy for me .. Anyone BUT Bullshine Bill !! Probably in an AVATAR kind of world Bill would be chairman spending somebody else's millions but it ain't gonna happen !

Everton Bluejays anyone ??

The Red Sox are generally run very well. That said, I don't think this group has the funds to compete with the big spenders (the primary owner is "only" worth half a billion pounds). A minority owner of the Red Sox (who learned his ropes watching these guys and being in the meetings) just took over the hockey team I support and the changes he put in place in a few months are mind-boggling. Just top-notch quality. So they will be well run, the question is if they have the money and if they're actually in this for success or if they just think they can get it on the cheap and use it for profit.

To answer the question, I'd take our chances with a US consortium. There are bad owners from all over the world. It wasn't Americans who ruined Portsmouth. There have been lots of cowboy owners in recent years from all over the world. It's a veritable "it's a small world" parade of ****-ups spanning the globe -- not sure why we have to focus on Americans just because they took over the two media darling teams.

Man U: For as much as that lot complains, they haven't exactly suffered all that much from the Glazers. The Tampa NFL team has suffered hugely however. There does seem to be evidence that owning two teams is problematic but it doesn't mean the (English) football team will always be the one to suffer. Yeah the Glazers pulled a fast one in taking the team over and forcing the fans to essentially pay for it but they're still in the mix for titles.

Villa: Lerner had a go for a while and then cutback. O'Neill left but their financial situation isn't disastrous.

[Poor language removed]: They've been bad although there is a massive gap between RS fans expectations and reality -- I'm not sure any ownership group short of another top ten richest person in the world blowing 400 million on transfers is going to get them where they want to be. Their old manager and some questionable transfers should certainly share some of the blame (let's buy Robbie Keane for 20 million and sell him for 12 in the same year).

You can get a bad Middle Eastern group take you over (or a good one) a bad Euro group (or a good one) or a bad American group (or a good one). The nationality is meaningless to me.

Besides, at this point it's kind of a moot debate. We might as well sit around talking about if we'd want a consortium of unicorns and goblins to take us over -- nobody wants to take us over so worrying about where these fictional new owners might have been born is kind of pointless.

Should we allow a consortium of badger people from the planet Venus to take us over? Discuss.

It depends on what they were like. We can't judge all American's on the two over [Poor language removed]..
If they took us over and spent sum cash improving our squad etc wouldn't mind

I'll take Bill thanks.

You can't judge what they will be like but if they are anythin like the al [Poor language removed] lot or like the utd ones then im made up.

mind you i think it was more bad spending from Benitez than the owners - the Keane deal as an example

Being an American myself I don't mind if a US consortium takes over a team. What I care about is a club that is fiscally responsible and able to provide Moyes with funds for new players. Don't need the billions of City, but a steady stream of transfer funds would be nice. The Red Sox are a well run club. I remember reading that one of the Yankee's owner sons was interested in buying a club. Everton would be a good choice as the Yanks and Socks hate each other like we hate the [Poor language removed].

I think if I had to choose a type I would go with the 'Randy Lerner' type owner, up until he cut back on O'neill. If I recall he cut back on O'neill for a reason.....O'neill purchases were pretty poor and didn't produce much. Could be wrong though.

Bill all the way for me. All the Kenwrong-ers on here going on about he's only in it for the money should have a look across the park or down the M62 to see owners who are in it for the money, the grass isn't always greener.
