Player Valuation: £80m
He mentioned two things worthy of point:

1) He doesn't share the view of some of the players that they'd rather the transfer window shut sooner rather than later. He reckons that we can still "wheel and deal" in the transfer market before the window shuts, and..

2) Asked about Mikel and Peanuts contracts he said he wasn't "positive" but rather "hopeful" that they would extend their deals. He, like Pip and Bainsey before him, is trying to convince them that "the grass isn't always greener away from Goodison", but he wasn't exactly full of optimism..

Thoughts?

I think peanuts will see out his contract and go next summer and i reckon mikel will go this month.
I f mikel does go he will go with my best wishes and i know davey will have someone lined up just as good to replace him.

Like who?

I really doubt we could sign someone as good as Arteta.

If we replaced him with Defour and let him and his bezzy mate Fellaini fist teams every week in Arteta's stead then I'd be pretty satisfied.

Defour is interesting the [Poor language removed].
Poulson looks more likely

Defour is interesting many clubs, it doesn't mean they will do a move for him.
Poulson? You mean Christian Poulsen? If yes, he is a DM who is really limited on the ball and he will be soon announced as a new RS player. And we don't clearly need player like him.

Regarding Ireland - he can't do it playing as deep as Arteta, he is AM, if we would replace Arteta with him it would be really, really poor move.

1. Considering we have Moyes and no one else does, I'd be happy to let the transfer period go all year around.
2. Honestly, he couldn't have said anything else. To claim they are absolutely staying would put him in a box for contract negotiations. To not say anything about Arteta and Pienaar would be a sign of weakness.
Don't worry, be happy. Both will stay, we'll get a crack at Donovan in January when we'll be sitting 3rd in the league and then we'll complain about how we can't find playing time for Billy and Ossie and Jack.

shame if pienaar or arteta left... both are quality (when healthy... which seems rare)... interesting comments though. I get the impression that if no one leaves, there will be no "wheeling n'dealing". however, if someone does, then let the dealing begin.
