Leeds Vs Derby used to be THE big grudge match

Nary a mention when they play these days
Why? they are over an hour away from each other. Its like the modern rivalry between Chelsea & Liverpool, two teams who couldn't be more different just dislike each other for the sake of it? bad blood following some tasty games.

In the 70's there was a lot of bad blood, owing to the rivalry between Brian Clough and Don Revie. Plus, they were both in title contention during that time

Incredible match this, anyone remember this?

when I was in Holland that, we all worked the 2-10 shift so all the cloggies could watch the final, when they came in the morning after we'd spent the later part of the shift cutting out a huge plywood trophy, spraying it silver, adorning it with black & white tassells with Forza Juve below it, we left it hanging in the centre of the workshop from the crane & took the fuse out of the control.

1 of the lads (a kopite) took the spray can to the town center as well.... which made the papers.

Later that summer they all went to Borussia Moenchengladbach to watch r/s who got proper stuffed by Ajax (5-1 I think) when he got home the score and Hup Ajax or something had been gouged into his front door.

I don't know whether it's because we live in the North and subsequently don't pay that much attention, but all of the London derbies seem to have become non events to a certain extent.

Maybe it's down to 4th place and Champions league being the holy grail now ?.

There's some " big games " in the lower leagues too, which are big games for their potential for a rumpus - Leeds v Milwall for example .
