I've read a lot of mixed opinions on Big Dunc and people questioning his legend status. Is Duncan Ferguson a legend?

Yes!
Regardless of his injuries and far from startling goal scoring record he got big goals in big games against Man U and the RS and played his heart out in teams of couldn't give a [Poor language removed] imports and people not fit to wear the shirt. He was often the only good thing on show in some dire Smith/Kendall teams. And he LOVED the club.

During those few seasons in the mid nineties nothing was better than a Ferguson goal.

For about 3 seasons he WAS the club.

When times were tough and not very pretty, Big Dunc somehow still made Everton awesome in my opinion. Like watching a terrible game at home against Bolton, where out of nowhere, right in front of me, he laid the smack down on Bobic. Yeah its not football, but he left his mark =)

He will always be remebered for burying the [Poor language removed] in his first game and his passion for the blues. Unfortunatley his lack of performances were dissapointing for us all when his name was not on the team sheet and we thought "if only he'd have been playing" He will always be loved by us all because he wore the Royal Blue but his career could have been more promising. so as for a legend status and to compare him with the greats of our historical club then i must say "NO"

I'd say legend. In the hierarchy of legends he may be fairly low, but still legend. As others have pointed out, he bled Blue and played with a phenomenal passion that few can duplicate. If he had a squad around him that could actually play, and hadn't been bitten by injury so often, he would have scored many more for us.

Plus he was a complete nutter.

p.s. these pics / memories, will last forever. Could go on...

On his day he was top draw. Plus I will never forget being at Goodison in 04/05 when he scored the winner against United. The place errupted. In my opinion he was the right man at the right place at the right time. I guess maybe now Everton have moved on. But as a few of you have said he brightened up at least a few dark days in the Peter Johnson era
