2025/26 Beto

Not played well so far this season. If you play him then you have to play to his strengths or its pointless. He thrives on the quick through ball and makes decent runs off the centre halves. He's hardly had any decent balls to run onto. Made a good run at Anfield, clean through against the goalie and Gana over hit his pass. Neither Barry nor Beto are benefitting from the chop and changing. Personally, at the minute, I'd give Barry a run of games and use Beto off the bench, along with Alcaraz who he's got a decent understanding with. Then he's playing against tired legs and gets a bit more space.
Just nonsense this play to
His strengths he has no strengths. He got a through ball on Monday, couldn’t control it then had another go and knocked out for a goal kick. So we basically can’t put a ball through to him 25yards out. As he will need to take a touch. So we need to play the perfect inch pass so the ball lands between the penalty spot and 6 yard box, so he doesn’t have to think about anything and just hit it. Seems a bit fantasy island to me

To be fair, his goals in the second half of last season played a large part in our revival and made for one of the least stressful seasons in a long time.

In hindsight we should have shifted in the summer whilst his value was high, but this would have been an unpopular decision at the time. Looks like his confidence has plummeted, teams have worked out and exploited his limitations and the manager clearly isn’t backing him.

I think KDH moves out more to the left because like others, he doesn't have faith in the player infront of him..

How often do you see a player look up and go for the pass to Beto.

His movement off the ball is as bad as it gets. You can see players look up, see the ball to him wouldn’t go anywhere and he’s not moving in a way to exploit space for others so players go for a different option.

Maybe Moyes is telling him to do this I dunno.

There was a rare ball came in from the right on Monday, played towards the near post and Beto was just arriving on the edge of the box...

It seems we're trying to play a lot of ground balls across the box (particularly from the left with Grealish) this season and I genuinely think we'd be better off with DCL in the 6 yard box as he at least has a bit of instinct in there. Beto has zero it appears.

I was all for sellling him, but I kept getting told that he’s a goal scorer and is good enough to be our number 9 for next season and he will get us 15 goals

We 100% would but got to factor in whether he could play a full season and regardless, his position at the club was pretty much untenable in the end.
Thered have been been a lot of angry people if we’d kept him and sold Beto.
