Best squad in 25 years (part 2)

As we watched the team match Chelsea every step of the way last night and then Barkley and Lukaku open them up for the win spare a thought for their fans (lol) who have not only lost Cech,Essien, Lampard and Drogba in recent seasons but will soon lose John Terry.

As they begin the rebuilding process under a negative defensive manager (Conte) who cant speak English we are on the rise. Just imagine how this team (and squad) will be developed and with Moshiri pledging money for new additions and also new contracts (with Lukaku already saying he's excited about next season) we could be set to start a new cycle in our history and replace Man Utd and Chelsea who now have massive rebuilding jobs:

LCB - Ramiro Funes Mori (25)
RCB - John Stones (21)
DM - James McCarthy (25)
CM - Muhamed Besic (23)
ACM - Ross Barkley - (22)
CF - Romelu Lukaku (22)

That is a fantastic spine and perhaps we can soon add Joel Robles (25) to the list as he has been outstanding so far. Gerard Deulofeu (22) while not a central player will no doubt continue to improve as well and with the right additions to the team and the squad this could well be the beginning of a new era.

Very exciting times and seeing Kenwright and Moshiri together felt like a "changing of the guard" with a new custodian to take us to the next level now with 42 year old Roberto Martinez and his brilliant, exciting and, dare i say phenomenal, young team.

Very very exciting times.
That's all very true but we shouldn't forget all the disappointment we've had this season too. We've got great potential but achieving that potential is the hard part.

Developing all the time and they all have potentially 10 years with us. 3 or 4 more top signings in the summer and extended contracts given out to players and we should go to the next level.

Take the cup runs out of the equation and this season, especially at GP has been poor.
We do have great potential, I do not disagree. However, there is a lot of work to be done and players to leave/sign before we start thinking of regular Europe.
I also would agree this is one of the better squads we have had in a long long time.

Spot on that mate. We have the jump on these teams because the last three seasons has seen us overhaul an ageing and poorish quality squad in terms of depth, and turn it into one of the most exciting squads in the country. We are building toward something special here. Money invested right now on a top GK and a couple more additions to the defence and attack and we are set fair.

6 England international's started 2 more on the bench. 4 other international's started only Robles with no caps and all remaining subs had international recognition. Exciting times indeed. Hopefully we can win the cup and all the star turns will say give it one more season. With Moshiri putting money in even if we have to sell cos players no longer want to be here we will dictate the price!

Whilst I honestly think this is the best Everton squad I've seen in the seven years I've followed Everton by far. I just wanted to point out that because of the money in the Premier League nowadays a lot of clubs will also be saying similar things.

That's not an excuse for our form over the past two seasons. I feel we should be serious challengers for the Champions League but I just thought it was something worth pointing out.

He's absolutely got to get the goalkeeper signing right, any of the young Germans will be decent but then I've only watched Zieler so can't vouch for Karius, Leno or Horn. Zieler would be a boss signing though.

Think we'll see Howard, Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar, Gibson, McGeady and Mirallas leave, most of which we wouldn't even notice had gone. I'd add Kone to that too in an ideal world. Normally I'd say that you simply don't get rid of that many players in one go but this coming summer does have a changing of the guard whiff about it. Could probably replace the above 7 (8 including Kone) with 5 players, keeper, backup right back, centre mid, left mid and forward.

I hope he goes for a really top notch keeper even though joel has done very well indeed. Key for us is quality and depth now.

Even the centre mid area, if he adds someone in there he needs to go for top quality to compete with the others so everyones on their toes.
