Has there been any really successful signings from the Russian/Ukrainian league for any English team?

Arshavin was decent for a while, Pavlyuchenko did OK.

Can think of a few expensive failures though - Rebrov, Billy, Zhirkov, Jo

Vidic was signed from Spartak
Kanchelskis for United was signed from Shakhtar (was part of USSR back then)
Fernandinho - Shakhtar

Good shout - I wouldn't really say Fernandinho and Willian are unqualified successes all things considered. The other two definitely
