Bit of an aside but I was watching a documentary last night about the making of 'Dark side of the moon' and towards the end David Gilmour said how he wishes that he could have listened to the album in full for the first time sat comfortably with a set of headphones. I felt really sorry for him that he was never able to experience it that way.

Why couldnt he? Headphones were invented, and it was his album, in part anyrate.

Richie Blackmore didnt like it so it got cut from the original Machine Head its probably on later reissues/remasters.

along with my favourites Thin Lizzy who is said earlier i would give honorable mentions to Rory Gallagher and Stiff Little Fingers if they count as rock

Saw them just shy of their Heyday. Was made up when I taught myself Alternative Ulster on the electric guitar.

Blimey, I havnt been to a gig for ages. Bristol doesnt get the big ones anymore. Missed my lads band the other week cos I was ill, but they got 200 plus into a one band gig in a club in Bristol the other night. Might be a decent pension!

Yep. They are playing in Perth in February, but it is a Monday night and on the other side of the city. It’s just too hard unless you drive and where is the fun in that.

I've seen The Flaming Groovies once or twice. They've never tried to change their act. Same old jangly guitar. That's probably why they're not superstars. That and their propensity to make mistakes and repeat lyrics etc.
The leader Cyril Jordan wears a wig now - the worst I've ever seen. They're a proper rock and roll band.
