The rain, it raineth every day
Beware My Brethren (AKA as The Fiend) : an early 1970s British sleazy film featuring a weird religious sect and a homicidal maniac on a murdering spree. Undercurrents of religious indoctrination and corruption, and some soulful singing by Maxine Barrie (now a leading Shirley Bassey impersonator) add up to an interesting watch. Censored at the time.

The Vanishing (or Without a Trace or The Man Who Wanted To Know) - original French-Dutch production which was naturally remade by Hollywood into a far inferior version.

Girlfriend goes missing from a rest stop on the French motorway - apparently Stanley Kubrick thought it was one of the most frightening films he had seen.

Utterly superb; total bomb at the box office.
