I've always thought Hoddle whilst a naturally gifted player was unbelievably over rated and probably played his best football at the end of his career as a sweeper.

I remember when Lombardo was playing for Palace and he ran the show he was about 40ish at the time aswell.

He was jaw dropping that day. First game of the season 97/98 and we had just come up via the play offs. I remember thinking that as well as the best player on the park he was easily the fittest. He had calf muscles the size of coconuts. I remember turning to my eldest lad (the Palace supporting one) and saying "I really think we'll be top ten this year." My youngest son (the Evertonian), nine at the time, was quietly snivelling . We have never been allowed to sit in The Park End again since that day.
