in memoriam - 1965-2024
Seems to be loads of music based threads recently. Cool! If it hasnt already been done, best gig ever??
Tough choice, but ACDC, 1981, Back in Black tour, Bristol Colston Hall for me. Jammy mate of mine saw U2 supporting The Skids at Glasgow Barrowlands.

Any takers?

Arcade Fire in Manchester around 2008, unbelievable

Saw The Killer's first UK show, at midday randomly in London back in 2004 I think, back when they were ace, that was defo a top show

Yes! Saw them, he went over our heads in that balloon thing! Awesome! Daft Punk on the same night too......I could go on, but I will stop there!

Sounds brilliant, but only vaguely heard of them. Best album of theirs to get, in your opinion?

Yoshimi battles the pink robots. Loved that album, but I am sure they may be better, but for me, that was it at the time!!! =)

Rage against the machine at the O2 last year. Would have taken something special to beat Metallica and they did it with a bit to spare. Great night.

Yeah, Wayne gets in the bubble and crowdsurfs. Not to mention the ace lazers, and at the end, they did a singalong to the Bohemian Rhapsody. I never sing... but I stood up and sang. Such a great night out.

Best album...

Well, get the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Giant pink robots. If you like, then get the two after that. Their earlier stuff wasn't as good... they sounded more generic. Except the album before the Soft bulletin, but that was mental -- it came on 4cds that you were meant to play at the same time, or mix and match, for a unique sound. Apparently it worked, but I don't have the means to test it!

But yeah, the soft bulletin and Yoshimi.

Rush - Time Machine Tour 2010 in September.

Might be seeing them again in April.
Rush are the most underrated band ever. Live they are awesome. How 3 guys reproduce live what they do on record is incredible. Seen them a few times, but missed this one. Enjoy.

Rush are technically out of this world. There was a bit of a Rush being cool phase for people my age, with the recent Guitar Hero/Rock Band inclusions, but in terms of actualy mainstream appreciation you're dead on; they're incredibly underrated. But a hell of a lot of bands will mention Rush for being major influences, so they're not underappreciated, at least.

Rightly so. First saw them on Moving Pictures tour. One of those bands who will be acclaimed once they hang up their instruments.

The Who at 'The Gorge' in George, Washington

I saw the Who a couple of years ago. They were old, but yeah, they still knew how to rock. If I was being critical I'd say they were a bit too clinical, but I guess it's hard to be that passionate about your 15 millionth gig.
