....i’ve been banging on about it for years. A highly respected man in Sports medicine told me a long time ago that ‘Everton have fantastic medical equipment and facilities but none of them know how to use it’.

Our deep rooted problem is we have old school Club Doctors. The Club Doctor should be brilliant and innovative.

Kenwright spent more on lawnmowers than doctor's it seems. lol

...our medical staff are inept, I really don’t trust them to get any prognosis right.

Medial ligaments while not exactly ACL's are always difficult to deal with. While always dependent on the severity and grade, it's not always that easy to be so specific and the consequent prognosis only a rough guide.

One thing you can rely on is it'll be far more serious than our medic's diagnosis and we'll rush him back well before he's ready with predictable consequences.

I tore my MCL (2nd grade) and went to a orthopedic specialist right here in my town (in New Jersey, USA). Highly regarded, sure, but still just part of a regular, old health system anyone can go to.

I should think a professional sports franchise worth more than £1b would have as good if not better facilities.

Absolutely, however as eggs remarked

I suspect there is a lack of ruthlessness in the club with people being kept on ‘because they’ve been here for 10+ years’ etc. People get complacent and their motivation levels suffer.

Many others have suggested the same when talking about the likes of Unsworth and Ferguson.

You hate to see people get fired or let go, but if you want to be the best you have to hire the best. Sentimentality has held this club back for quite some time.

"I always told the kid that trying is overrated. Eventually its going to get you injured" - Morgan Scheinderlien.
Reminds me of that brilliant philosopher Homer (Simpson that is) who when advised that in life you always had try in order to achieve something (can't remember what the actual subject matter was) his reply was something like "Nah - trying is just the first step on the road to failure"
