I'm finding Bernard to be one of our most frustrating players due to the fact that he clearly has so much ability. Played very well yesterday but I think he can do even better each week with better decision making, and improving his end product.

His first touch and control is at the very highest level, and his ability to glide past players is great to see, but I still want to see better shooting from him each game and picking out the right pass or cross more often. With a lot of players we get frustrated with them not being good enough ability wise. With him, I think he has the ability just needs to improve the choices he makes. If he can do that, he is going to be a key player for us.

Great to see him get a goal yesterday, we need players like him to start scoring more.

Him, Gomes and Rich I actually feel most sorry for. They can only do so much then realise they've got no one making runs or players to cross into.

Thought he made his goal look really simple but was sublime skill, I wonder if he could operate in a little and large strike combo with Dom?

Was it against Brighton or Lincoln that he beat two men on the right ,got to the by line and put a beautiful low ish ball into the six yard box,only for at least two Everton forwards to stand like statues looking at it. It must be very frustrating for him. I think him and Gomes have been our best signings....Bernard has plenty of energy and does is defensive duties very well. A proper footballer with skill, a brain and desire.

Thing is,for him to have choices, there has to be movement and players doing runs and he very rarely has that luxury of choice. Was it against Brighton or Lincoln that he beat two men on the right ,got to the by line and put a beautiful low ish ball into the six yard box,only for at least two Everton forwards to stand like statues looking at it. It must be very frustrating for him. I think him and Gomes have been our best signings....Bernard has plenty of energy and does is defensive duties very well. A proper footballer with skill, a brain and desire.

When he was signed Silva said he was competing with Siggy for a place
Our lack of a striker and Rico being used up top means Bernard has to be played on the left rather than in the middle

To be fair there are far worse players than him in the squad. If we ever end up with a decent squad challenging as "best of the rest" he would never get in it. He cost nothing and always tries his best, so what more can we ask until the time comes to get rid.

...absolutely, i’ve been posting the same. For such a talented and technically gifted footballer you can’t trust him to deliver a killer pass or score from a clear chance. I like him but he’s a paradox of a footballer.

Eggs he’s a proper footballer
If you put more proper footballers around him in their proper positions he will produce
A clever and lethal CF will be the making of Bernard

Agree about the scoring as he's capable, but the fact that he, Gomes, Richarlison and Gana are all new to each other isnt helping.

I honestly think we will see the best of him next season

I have watched all of Villa 's highlights since Bolassie got back in the team. Try the Quest TV site. He is far more effective than Bernard and Walcott. Back with us next season?
