Dave, in response to the financial crisis 10 years ago, the central banks of the world, in a (successful) effort to bail out all the uber-wealthy of the world who would have been bankrpted, just printed out of thin air, trillions and trillions and trillions of fiat currency. That vast supply of money sloshing all over the shop has grotesquely distorted all* asset prices...property, shares, bonds...sports teams, football players. Determining true value in anything these days?...good luck with that.
* interestingly gold is kept subdued...you can probably work out why that might be. Also cryptocurrencies are as well but I suggest this will change once the big boys (ie Wall St banks) have positioned themselves in the 'crypto space'...they were behind the 8 ball there.
