Confirmed Signing Bernard

I think most people thought we would struggle to shift Mirallas, Klaassen, Bolasie due to high wages and how badly they failed here.
I think many suspected the funds wouldn’t be available for substantial bids after the insane money wasted last year.
I think the acquisition of Richarlison, Digne, Bernard and who knows.. lascelles? Mina? Is major upgrades on what we had previously.
In summary, something of a fantasy window, although at the moment it’s still a bit potential as we await the last couple of signings.
Yeah, personally I think that's just people hugely overegging how bad those players are. Anyone who's ever read one of my posts on Bolasie knows i'm a long way from a fan, but he's not that bad. Thinking we wouldn't be able to offload him, Williams or Mirallas - a player with 60 caps for a tier 1 nation who even Walsh had found a taker for - was taking negativity to ridiculous levels.

The issue was always going to be whether anyone would actually pay fees for the players, and so far they haven't really. Let's be clear here, taking a 50% hit on Klaassen in 12 months is absolutely catastrophic. We might have thought that the club wouldn't sell him for such a loss, but once it became clear they would, nobody should be surprised that there was a taker.

The clearout has been good - although there's more to be done - but at this moment it's raised no more money/freed up no more wages than most fans would have expected. There are hundreds of pages of us saying all this in the transfer thread to back that up.

Mad how he's ended with us like seeing as he's been widely deemed as one of the best players in Europe ffs. I can't imagine we have offered him the biggest signing on fee and the most lucrative wages. Maybe this whole Silva intervention actually did happen. Goes without saying he'll come and instantly be our top earner like, just find it mad how he's ended up with us when surely he would have had his pick of clubs.

I'm not saying that Silva's being named as manager instantly opens up a pipeline to any portuguese or brazilian player Everton want, but it has to be a comfort zone for players from those two nationalities to be able to share a language with your manager. Much like Fonseca.
