Ben Heneghan released from Everton's academy last season managed to get a pro deal at Stoke City captained the Stoke U21's today against Manchester United. Ben was my choice of most improved player last term and was shocked that Everton released him.
I wish this player well for the future but hope we didn't drop a major clanger by letting him go. Only time will tell

Baines and Jagielka were released at a much younger age at a time the academy went through a major transition. Wouldn't worry about any players we release these days.

If he'd captained Stoke U21'S today against Darlington then it wouldnt sound as impressive. Hopefully we wont regret it but i guess its a difficult job dealing with very fine margins.

The point i was making was that Everton released him in May, he found another club and they have made him captain for this season. I rated this lad but who am i to say?

Peter Clarke, Mark Hughes, Steven Schumacher, recently James Wallace to name but a few, all players who left us and immediately gone on the captain other clubs, we produce good leaders, maybe it's just a compliment to the way we bring kids through, but just because these lads have captained other teams doesn't have me losing any sleep we don't have them anymore. I know a fair few lads who watch our academy games and no one seemed concerned with the releases we made this summer.

Bally -- How do you think Garbutt and Bidwell will do this season?

Are they ready to be integrated into the squad or could do with a championship loan?

I have always been impressed with these two lads, i would say at the minute they would benefit more being loaned out as they both were last season. They could be amongst the subs bench in the league cup fixtures if they remain with us

Cheers AB. Also, if you can say, do you expect we will see Ty Browning, John Lundstram or Hallam Hope in the first team or do you see them on a loan in L1/L2 this season?
