Player Valuation: £8m
According to Malcolm Allen on tonights welsh "Match of the day", apart from Leighton Baines, Ben Davies is the best left back in the Premiership...

I don't even...

Sigh.

He is a good player, one of the best young prospects like Shaw at LB - other players are better/expierenced though. Bertrand is worth a shout if there is a potential left back coming up at Everton.

if baines goes, he should be our no.1 target. he is a class act so far, think his standard has dropped a bit since taylor came back and he's had a bit of competition, but at such a young age he's taken to prem, european and international football so so easy.

not the 2nd best in the league, but probably the 2nd best potential, we aint getting shaw that's for shaw.

He is a good shout for a replacement for Baines. We would probably sign him for 5-6 million which was what we paid for Leighton so give him time to develop at our level and we could potentially end up with the best fullback pair in the league in 2-3 years.

We haven't now because Coleman is not the finished article yet, but when is is he will be ranked up there in the league.

Bertrand used to be a prospect, he's nearly 25 now! Nowhere near the "quality" standard that he was promising to be when he started. Just stopped developing at one point I guess.

We actually won't, it'll be a shocker if we do. Not that I wouldn't want that, personally, as the lad's quality, but a 20 year old up-and-coming British player with experience in the Prem for 5-6m?

Why not? Swansea sold England international Sinclair for 6.2 million and he had a lot more experience and 'right now ability' than Ben Davies would have. Track record would suggest he is available for round that price because i cant see him move for much more than that unless one of the top 4 came in.

We are one of the top 4, or close enough to there, for them to go "well, we can at least get a good 10m off this". Plus he is an actual class player.

Also LOL Scott Sinclair. Everyone could see he's not so good. He offers nothing other than pace to be fair and it's a fantastic coup for Swansea to get that price from him. He also had a year left and confirmed he was not going to renew his contract, which made him even cheaper. It speaks volumes that he went for the money and not for the playtime as well. Good for him for having a great Championship season and a decent PL one in a team that performed largely above expectations.

Before you/anyone else goes "herp derp, he has 28 goals in 82 appearances" - he scored about all in all 10 (or less) from open play, and was Swansea's main penalty taker, which he was good at, credit to him. He will go to WBA if they meet whatever low-price clause they've put on his loan contract, probably between 2 and 4m.

Isnt Taylor better than him?

not based on last night. think davies is getting the nod of the two when both fit atm, at international level as well probbaly.

with regards to the scott sinclair comment above, if i remember rightly he wasn't going to sign a new contract and had obviously believed his own hype, hence the low price tag (not that it was an unfair one at all)

It was badly overpaid for no reason as well, what was it, 7m?
