I remember when Bellefield was state of the art, the envy of every other football club................now history, ah well:(

luxury housing project and a few million in the clubs pocket. good venture.

shame such foresight was lacking when properties around goodison became available.

drove past it on a double decker bus today...(my schools right next to it - :p)...all deserted...but the new training ground is supposed to be boss...so if it improves the players ability im up for it :)

Good bye to Bellfield, it served us well and lets hope Finch Farm serves us even better.

This is a massively positive move for the club. Think of all those players over the years who came in for talks but were swayed by more luxurious offers. Now we have the chance of allowing them to train at one of the finest training complexes in the world. Once again.

the bandits of the past tried to sign nigel martyn first time (pre leeds) sat in a motorway service station.

we've had some jesters.

bastards. poor old bellefield, i suppose the new training ground will improve the players fitness dramatically, but still. its part of our heritage :(

Far be it from me to argue with this 'one of the best in the world' tag for the place but what is it that makes it so? Just interested as we don't tend to hear much about the backroom side of things at the club and obviously the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea have spent mega bucks on their own training grounds. Obviously I'd love to think we have leapfrogged them all in terms of facilities but my head does suggest we're merely keeping pace.

I have not seen any plans and I'm not sure where Finch Farm is but it would be a false economyto only have facilities 'on a par to' rather than 'ahead of' as things move that quickly we would be having to alter the new place just to 'keep up with the Jones's'.

When Bellefield opened visitors came from far and wide to see it, it was so far ahead of its time.

A wee bit light on details. When I was a Man Utd shareholder they included quite a bit of information on their new Carrington development. I'll try and dig up some annual reports and compare/contrast.

Here's an interesting video of the new Chelsea academy at Cobham
