Depends really on how you see the situation doesn't it? Another way to say it is that Schloes turned his back on his country, retiring at an early age while Beckham is so determined to represent his country that he makes himself available despite being stripped of captaincy, despite having a bad history with the new manager and despite living in America.
Not the way I see it, but you can easily put a spin on things.
Reasons for Schloes retiring is irrelevant, he is unavailable for England so when I said Beckham/Cole are Englands two best midfielders I dont see how you can argue Schloes is? When hes unavailable?

But Suits... as you know, Schloes is not available for England. Hes not in contention. It doesn't matter were is is playing, hes retired so he cant be considered when talking about who Englands best midfielders are.
