Beckford is the future

Course he needs time.. It's only a few games in.. Couldn't belive that he had his penalty saved though. How low must his confidence be atm... The main problem is that it's like we've got a choice atm, he's our only fully fit stricker..

It's about the tactic we use, not how he play.

We are building our team and tactics around Cahill and nobody else. Anyone that comes in will struggle if their game does not revolve around anticipating crosses after crosses.

The question must be directed to Moyes. A 60k pr week manager MUST be able to identify this flaw, no two ways about it.

Sorry for your result last night, I mean it, from a fan whose seen his team suffer humiliation after humiliation in the past 8 years I know how it feels, just be grateful it probably won’t get much worse than this. The day you lose to Histon in the FA Cup live on national television whilst your kicking about in L1 is the day you really know you’ve really hit rock bottom.

ANYWAYS!

Jermaine Beckford, seriously, what the hell is going on??! I’ve cast my beady eye over Match of the Day and the Sundays to see how our ex hero has been getting along. I expected the odd sub appearance here and there, spells in the stiffs, starts in games such as last night. He seems to be your main bloody striker!!? I don’t want to look like I’m trying to make excuses for the lad but he’s just jumped 2 divisions and starting him every game seems a bit daft to me. Also when I’ve watched him play he appears to be playing on his own?! Lol, it just gets worse. Beckford could never play up front on his own, not a slight on him, he just can’t do it and Grayson always knew that. If we ever needed a single striker up front we’d go for Becchio as he is much better at holding the ball up. Beckford was all about balls over the shoulder of the last defender and his finishing. He needs someone to do the donkey work for him and he’ll finish the job off. It’s what he is and it’s why no one else went for him previously with a good bid because Premier League strikers these days often need to have more in their locker. I just assumed Moyes would throw Beckford on at the end of games and hopefully he’d turn into a bit of a super sub at best.

Moyes has always come across to me as one of the most talented managers in the premier league, he has a great record but for the life of me I can’t fathom what he’s doing. I know Beckford was free but he must’ve scouted the lad surely? The rest of your team looks clueless from what I’ve seen aswell but there’s so much talent in there so shouldn’t be long before you turn a corner. West Ham have far bigger worries

Saha's out for three weeks (two remaining). Cahill's got a knee injury

and Yak's had some sort of problem and is only starting to get fit now.

So its no just Evertonians that can see it then?

HAHA

we have a manager who is over-rated Jim, thats the problem.

As I posted earlier, im 50/50 on beckford.

Maybe a bit more time and better service (the right kind of service) will help him.

But be warned, out manager has played negative, defensive 4-5-1 for 8 and a half years, dont expect it to change now.

If what you say is true that Jermaine cant play up top by himself, then maybe you can loan him back in Jan?

Moyes for prime minister.

Sahas always injured from what I've seen. Cahills a midfielder is he not? Surely Everton have more than 3 strikers?

Cahill's more like a support striker to be honest...

Anichebe's injured.

Joao Silva (Portugese Under 21) not ready, barely gets any reserve games.

Gueye can play as a forward...but is young and is being played on the wing in the reserves.

Agard...nowhere near ready.

Vaughan is on loan...

Beckford can be superb or sh1te. We nearly signed him from Leeds in exchange for Kev O'Connor (our captain) about 4 years ago he hadnt settled at Leeds and Kev was in the form of his life at the time. Beckford is great player when he wants to be, look at his performance against Man UTD last season, but then if you look at the way we would play say away at Bristol Rovers when he dosent fancy it then he can be a real passenger. Moyes needs to keep him motivated and make sure he doesnt settle for just being a premiership player on paper, for a bloke who was non league not that long ago and the attitude he has im sure if not monitored he could happily just pick up his wages. Having said that if he is told he hasnt made it and is made to prove his worth i feel he could step up to the plate. He is a similar signing to the likes of Caleb Folan, Dj Campbell, Dave Nugent but Beckford is definatley a class above these guys for sure.

I could be wrong but I think Agard's been released.

He wasn't involved during pre-season, I don't think he's been mentioned during a reserve game either.

A. He's not just getting the wrong kind of service for him to thrive, what service he is getting is poor because the team are getting outmatched in the middle at the minute.

B. Not all strikers are suited to playing in our system, David Moyes has struggled to solve this problem since he's been at Everton and has had a succession of strikers play there during his time. Beckford thrives with a partner and running into the space between the keeper and the defence. What Moyes want's is someone like Yakubu who can link up play and bring people in whilst being able to hold the ball when it's shunted to him.
