Beattie To Sheffield United?

Cal

Player Valuation: £40m
Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson is lining up a 4 million pound bid for Everton forward James Beattie according to the Daily Mail.

Beattie, who only scored 2 goals for Everton last season, was supposedly a target for Blackburn and Middlesbrough but now Championship team Sheffield United are lining up an audacious bid for Beattie.

Beattie, who has struggled in his career at Goodison Park, said earlier this week, “It was a bad season for me, I won’t skirt away from that, it was the first season I have never got into double figures.”

“It was very disappointing, but who’s looking backwards? You have got to look forward and be positive.”

It still remains to be seen if Beattie stays at Goodison Park this season but after scoring his first goal in a friendly for the first time in 54 games from open play, hopefully ‘Beatts’ will be going into the new season with confidence.

Great lad, hate to see him go, wish him well and all that. Guess we'll have t make due without him...

...wait, did that article say they were looking for a proven goal scorer?

He will NOT be sold for 4 million and with Vaughan out and Moyes' love of BT he will not be released. With the wide players being brought in that BT thrives off I think we have some surprises coming from him this year. I also believe that is what Moyes thinks too.

Well Gaz, according to the 'Mirror' today, ( i've just read it now ) Moyes has already told him he could fly home and talk to Sheff utd, but Beattie declined to go and will come back with the rest of the squad this weekend.
But they also say that he may talk to Sheff next week !
Seems that we are about to make a serious offer for Smith if the Beattie transfer goes ahead.
All paper talk i know but there could be some truth to it.

As far as Beattie is concerned i would love him to come good and stay an Everton player, i know he is about as usefull at the moment as a chocolate tea-pot but while he remains a blue i'm going to hope he turns things around and will continue to do so while he is with us.
His situation just makes me angry, i want him ( or any other player ) to be a success, [Poor language removed] i even felt the same way about Jeffers and Cadamateri !
Even if we do sell him i wont slag him off, i'll just feel dissapointed that he didn't become another Everton great.

I can understand that buddy. I had such high hopes for him when he arrived. He seemed to be the answer for that targetman type player to replace Dunc that we were crying out for.

I want Beattie to come good as well as he's been a true professional while he's been with us.

However even his most ardent supporters (of which I used to be and am now a less than ardent supporter) would have to admit that if someone came in with a 4M bid for Beattie, we really would be fools not to take it.
