Mirror:

Leeds boss Simon Grayson has grabbed Preston keeper Andy Lonergan from under the noses of Premier League Everton in a £150,000 deal.

Grayson clinched the move after offering Lonergan a three-year contract, and Goodison chief David Moyes backed out of the chase.

Lonergan had been training with Everton for months and was due to join, but Moyes was unable to put in a counter-offer.

Grayson is delighted to have landed a new number one following Kasper Schmeichel's departure to Leicester and the failure of a loan move for Fulham's David Stockdale.

Where we really in for him? Shocking.

Maybe we were in for him before, as Mucha was expected to leave, but with Mucha playing the two games in the US, maybe he is staying for the moment, which means Lonegran is no longer required....
Just my reading of the situation....

I dont believe we cant afford 150k transfer fee, with low wages

We were 'beaten' by Leeds by the way. Not that the facts should get in the way of anything.

I'd imagine that given the load of keepers we already have, there wasn't any pressing need to sign another one. Would imagine that Mucha is staying on for another year as a result. He was like a football attracting vortex on Saturday night.

hes 27 isnt he? not worth chasing imo, no prem experience, id have much rather moyes busted his balls to sign keiren westwood, who has no prem experience, but my mates a cov fan, and hes been raving about him for years, and then theres the fact most of my mates are blackpool fans, and they agree that hes been the best keeper by a mile in the championship for years.

ive not seen much so i cant offer my opinion, although he deffo looked a bit above average against pompey in the cup 2 seasons ago.

The manager of English Premier League's Eveton Football Club - with all it's £79M turnover - wasn't allowed to make an improved offer for a keeper he wanted because Championship club Leeds United (turnover £27M) offered £150,000.

Welcome to Bill Kenwright's vision of the future.

You really, really, really think this happened Dave? Man, I'll bet it's fun round your house.

It did happen. He's now at Leeds.

What a strange comment to make.

When was the last time Everton made you smile??

Getting upset about a keeper who has joined LEEDS.......what a strange comment to make

Perhaps Dave; and whilst I appreciate this doesn't fit in with your negative thought process, it could as easily happened.

Perhaps there was no bid for him as someone, Moyes perhaps, decided he didn't need him presently?

But hey, there's no reason to protest about the board if that happened is there?

We know Moyes wanted him - he said so. All the reports over the weekend were that Everton bid £100,000 and wouldn't budge above that. They didn't and so Lonergan ended up at Leeds.

Is it so difficult to understand?

I could care less about losing out on that GK. The point is this: players like him should be signed up as a matter of course if our manager wants him. But we're not in that position and have to haggle to the extent that minnow clubs outmuscle us in the transfer market.

Most likely Lonergan wanted first team football, apart from anything else. He may have trained with us but he didnt go to the States so we can't have been over keen. Add to that the fact that, despite everything, Mucha is still here and is probably the best 2nd choice keeper in England, why would we want him ?
