Yep macca,it was probably the "three man team" that kept us in the top flight those early 1990's years, some dreadful players,MoJo,Preki,Holmes,Angell(shiverslol)and the rest.
Awful players mate weren't they, Christ on a trike we were crap Dario!

Probably a better atmosphere too mate, the place is rammed these days, back then 20,000 was a good gate, but there was a din every time we'd attack(which wasn't that oftenlol)Half expected it back then Dario, I don't think we were ever short of effort we were just crap. These days there just isn't the effort and as an Evertonian effort is top of my list. Even in those utter drab moments there was the odd glimmer of glory like the 2-1 win against the RS where Billy Kenny really started to make a name for himself.

Like I've mentioned before Dario, the ZDS semi final was one of my favourite games. Must have only been about 11k but the atmosphere was sound.
The simple truth is if the players actually started a game with a tackle or 2 and a shot early doors then that gets the crowd going. The players even know this, the manager even knows this. For whatever reason they are unable to do this. Ridiculous that something so simple looks impossible for the shower of plop who we are unfortunate enough to have to watch these days.

Spoke to Stuart Barlow at an Everton do the other month and yeah he was one of the boys of the early nineties, but he'd give you everything and speaking to him he knew what it meant to play for us the fans,he told me he couldn't sleep for three nights after the infamous Rosenthal derby when he missed a few chances,we had a game in the midweek against Ipswich and he said it was the only time in his life he wanted to be dropped as he felt he'd let us the fans down,Howard showed faith in him and stuck him on,don't know if you remember mate he scored a belter that night at the Park End,I can't imagine the likes of Lukaku for all his "talent" having sleepless nights after his abysmal display yesterday![]()
I mentioned it to him,I think he was made up anyone remembered it!!I'd gone to the tinmine on the saturday,he must have had four one on ones and muffed them all,I'd forgotten but he told me he came on as a sub that day,and he had at least made things happen after a dire first half,in time honoured fashion Rosenthal notched in about the 157th minute for themlolI've never seen the Ipswich goal since the actual game,as I recall,a ball dropped out of the floodlights on the edge of the box to Jigsaw with his back to goal who hit it on the trolley over his shoulder into the top corner,or maybe it was just a dream, great goal anyhowlolBarlow, pace of a leopard and the finish of a cow lol
Talking of Ipswich, I went to an away game and Barlow scored both in a rare 2-0 away win. Missed both goal taking a leak! Gonna take a look for that goal now against Ipswich at the Park End. Limited player but you could tell he cared and he done well to forge a decent career out of football as well.

It's a belter mate!

Your correct eggs , Beardsley was great but diamond saved us from the drop . No contest ....Beardsley was better, no doubt in my mind about that but over a period of time Stuart was a good servant.

Fantastic, cheers mate, maybe not quite as I recall but a screamer all the same![]()
I don't know mate I thought your recollection is quite close. Brilliant goal. I'm sure the 2 I missed him score were 2 crap deflected goals. As I always tell my lad, every goal is a great goal as long as it's a goal for Everton![]()
