Is he ready? I don't mean ready for a starting place, but is he ready to be in the first team squad?

Reports seem to suggest he has the minerals and can play. When I have seen him he has always looked like he was way ahead of his peers, so 16. Is that too young? Well not really, not if your good enough, as Rooney and Vaughan have both proved.

Now cue the following:

1. "He's too young, maybe next year..."
2. "Send him out on loan first..."
3. ADD YOUR OWN EXCUSE

Personally I would bet my life that he beats Vaughan's record this season.

I think he is, yes he may not be ready, but the more he plays the better he will get. I wanna put him in the first team soon...i think he deserves it too.

Nowhere near ready, the only 1 who could barely make the bench this season is Rodwell. The others have a very long way to go

No he's not.........simple as really.

Like Osman I feel he'll need time. The likes of Vaughan and Anichebe came through early because there all pace and power. Rooney came through because he was a monster.

Baxter hasn't got a turn of pace nor is he strong from what I've seen. Technically he looks good but that isn't enough. I think he needs to find his position (winger/striker/centre midfielder), work on his physique and spend some time in the reserves.

He's nowhere near ready. He needs time and he needs to establish himself in the reserves.

Ok, well I could have staked a fortune on those latter two responses. No offence guys but its typical Evertonian talk. [Poor language removed] it, if he's good let him play. If he has the talent and the ambition, the drive, the ability, the brain, then let's see it.

From what I have read, he caused mayhem today, and setup the goal with a corking corner. Haven't seen many of them from Arteta recently.

Pace isn't always a requirement, Paul Scholes has no pace, but he has a brain, he knows where to pass, when to pass, when to shoot, and he can read the game well. I have followed Jose's rise to prominence over the past two seasons, and I can tell you this guy will play this season.

And Rodwell, barely making the bench? Are you stoned? He'll definitely play this season.

Neither does osman or pienaar. And baxter is quite fast, and has alot of agility.

If rodwell plays regularly this season then we will have problems, he isnt ready to make the step up. As for Baxter if you werent prepared to hear other peoples opinions on him then why ask. He isnt ready...simple as.

In Rodwell Everton have got a real gem - reminds me of a certain number 8 in red not a million miles from Goodison - bit raw at the edges but not afraid to try a 40 yard pass, link with defence and attack - very competent.

Well Dom, I would just trust your own thoughts and pay no mind to those negative lot.

I see no reason why WE shouldn't be bringing through young talent. Man U, Arsenal do, Spurs do, Look at Palace? played a 15 year old last season. If they are good enough, then get them out there.

Make sure you shout that to Moyes when he brings the lad on.

Also, I could have sworn this lad hit the bar from 25 yards, and created the goal with a peach of a corner. Yeah, I did read that.

He didn't cause mayem. He hardly saw much of the ball. When he got it he was tidy but that's about it. He gave a decent account of himself and nothing more. That's not me being negative I'm just being honest.

You do need to be able to compete phyically in England. If you can't you'll be bullied and you won't be able to use your technical ability.

Look at Osman for example, I watched him as a kid and to be honest he looked alot better than Jose Baxter. Technically one of the better English players I've seen but it took him until he was 23 to make it because he lacked pace and strength.

Comparing him to Paul Scholes is ridiculous. Paul Scholes is one of the best midfielders England have ever produced. He was more than tidy. His passing was one another level and he was special like Rooney.

He's not ready. He might get on the bench with our small squad but that's about it.

Osman and Pienaar are experienced and have been playing for a while now. They developed physically and technically. Baxter has yet to do either.

He isn't fast, if he is then I've never seen it.

Its a senior game of football, regardless of what position the team are in. Why are you so against him? Why don't you just lighten up and enjoy the fact we have an absolute gem ready to be unveiled.
