also, i notice if lescott or pienaar or anyone gives it away it gets the moans of "unlucky" and "good effort".wit manny its always "are [Poor language removed] off u stupid prick" etc....why?

No it hasn't just happened in the last 5 games we have only passed the ball around in very small spells in very few games.

it must be the way we train? if you train to pass and move thats how you will play. If you train to hoof it into the channels same goes.

We have the players Fernandes, osman, arteta and pienaar. It is the coaching/game plan that lets us down.

I agree that below the top 3/4 in the prem there is alot of huff & puff and very little quality

I disagree totally with that. What has changed our season is the fact we play football and pass well, creating chances, the route one football was a very little part to our game for all the season. We cant play root one because the only one with pace in the team is Johnson - so I disagree with us just playing good football in spells this season.

We have creative players on the wings, but no one in middle to get the ball and have vision to create something at the moment so theres lack of creativity from the middle. Arteta or Manny would fit in there and Ossie has been doing it all season, espeically with Cahill with him pushing forward. None of out central players bomb foward because we have 2 defensive mids in there.

Also, there are plenty of teams below us who play good football - Spurs, City, Villa, Pompey all can put the ball down and have class players to move it about.

All i can say is i remember this season totally different than you. But that is what a forum is about.
If you are happy with our standard of football then good i am glad you are enjoying the games. i personally think its ugly football with alot of huff and puff.

Maybe it has something to do with Lescott and Pienaar being consistently good this season and Fernandez being consistenly bad, except for last night.

at times we hav pased it well which leaves me to think we can do it if we want as said previous it doesnt hav to be the arsenal way but it would be nice to see majority of a season trying to play but to play this way u need a creative player in the middle we play them wide or only in the middle during tactical switches this is where the ball then goes to nev or cars to play it about and this isnt in their locker ...hence we hav to chase the ball rather than the ball doin the work

what ever happened to "never boo a blue shirt" what is always getting spouted, or does that only count if you like them?

I fully agree with Neville, I dont know if you remember but there was one moment where he was given the ball to run upfield or distribute and instead he ran back to the box area and then to the corner flag but there was no one chasing him. It really was extremely embarrasing. The other players must have been wondering, "where the bloody hell is he going!"

You really thought Fernandez was poor though Monty? I thought he was probably our best player along with Jagielka last night.

Monty always thinks Fernandes is poor.

Consider the source when you read it.

He's got an axe to grind with him. Fair enough but when a comment is made that Fernandes was poor when he was easily one of our best players last night and CERTAINLY our most dangerous player, I could care less that a few of his passes went astray.

Monty, you make it sound as if every pass he made didn't find it's target. (n)

fernandes might have give it away just as much.however, his attempted passes were a lot more probing and at least the guy tried to create something...jagielka, neville, hibbert, yobo, LESCOTT, carsley, and yakubu on the rare occasion he got the ball under control, played an aimless hoof up the pitch or a negative sideways pass or often back to tim.

fernandes was out best player by a mile and everyone would be loving him if the free kick went in, our very rare attempts on goal all came from him. get off his back

Money !!!

...except that Fernandes hasn't been consistently bad.

He's had a couple of poor games but consistently?

Our crosses are OK, we have a few players who are really good at crossing (Hibbert, Peanut, Arteta, Baines, Valente) however with Cahill out there is no one who can get a head on the ball (not counting Lescott on corners, free kicks).

Our big problem is passing on the ground. Except for Arteta (and Manny on a good day) there isn't anyone on our team who can pass it on the ground. We might have to start Gravesen more to try to get things going in the midfield.

Kenada hit the nail on the head, imo, when he mentioned the movement. It's about having options for a simple pass. I remember a few years back, Athletic Bilbao (who have a bit of a rep as a typical 'British style' long ball team, and certainly aren't one of the more technically gifted Liga sides) were passing teams off the park. How? Jupp Heynkes was manager. The guy is technically one of the best coaches I've ever seen. Made everyone move to support the player on the ball so he always had two or three simple passes on. Even the Spanish equivalents of Hibbert and Neville were able to find teammates. This increased confidence, and you'd then see those same 'Hibberts' and 'Nevilles' playing one-twos on the edge of the area.
Get moving Blues

My grandson is eight and after school today Everton in the community took them for soccer training, today was back to basics passing the ball to each other and penalties after doing drills ,Out of my grandsons mouth was the words "we all passed better than the players against Chelsea " and on the penalty taking after advice only 2 missed but all where on target so cant these guys teaching kids have ago with certain professionals ,they were strict with the kids but every one enjoyed it . the grandsons pen was a cracker right in the corner(he asked me to add that)
