In playing terms there is no doubt much to commend the move, but Barcelona are supposed to have ideals and values that set them apart from other clubs. An awful transfer for them. They've lost a whole lot of the fondness I hold for them today.

they qualified for the CL thats a lot, plus this is £40m profit on their original purchase.

I still cant beleieve they paid that price for him. Just mental that they, Barce-fn-lona, wanted him in their club AND they paid SEVENTY FIVE MILLION for him when he is banned for 4 months. Just...mental.

Bit surprised that Barcelona have steamed in for him, money no object style - Not that I think they're a classy outfit or anything, but if the RS are a cult then Barca are the official religion of Catalonia. I'd have thought they would consider a player's character a bit more than most other clubs.

Up until a few years ago that seemed true, but their sponsorships, youth recruitment methods and on-field histrionics are pretty much standard now. This transfer is the final nail, I think.
