With the Chelsea squad players not joing up with the England team until after the Norway trip (an with three of them being defender) is it likely that our lads will play the match. Baines will start obviously. But will Jagileka get any game time d'ya reckon. Or will Hodge go with Lescott and Jones at CB?

seeing as jags didn't make the squad i highly doubt he will be getting any game time like

He could get subbed on if Jones or Lescott take a knock or get tired. There's not much defensive cover without the Chelsea players. That's why Kelly from Liverpool is with the squad.

I thought that the backup players (Butland, Jags, Henderson, and whoever the backup forward is) were with the squad for the friendlies against Norway and Belgium. If not then why was Martin Kelly called up up to take part in training sessions and to travel to Norway?

He is on standby, so I don't think Jags will be there? Baines will play probs.

So the stand by players are not with the squad for the friendlies?

Well then why is Martin Kelly in the squad? I don't understand that. I mean, he's obviously there because Cole, Terry and Cahill aren't available for the Norway game, but....
What I don't get is that Hodgson put Jags on the stand-by list incase anything happened to one of his defenders. Well for the first friendly he's lost three of his seven defenders so obviously needed to bring in one as cover for just the Norway match and went for Kelly over the man he put on the stand by list as defensive cover.

Baffling, isn't it.

Also Micah Richards must've nailed Hodgson's daughter or something. He should be first choice right back, not fourth.

Anyway, Baines will play and Jagielka won't.

If we had a back line of Richards - Jagielka - Lescott - Baines we would deffo keep the most clean sheets in the euros...sadly it will never happen...

And Jagielka definitely won't play before hand, whats the point? He will play lescott and Jones and see how they get on

It's not really that baffling.

Kelly is just there for experience. He's going straight home afterwards.

It's a good idea.

Baines looked very friendly with Gerrard at camp today, think that relationship can help them on the pitch to link up and has done well in the past

I don't know what to wish for Baines...play well, driving up the price...play not so well...stay here.

Urgh. I don't want him to go.

Gerrards performance against Mexico with Baines almost derailed Baines' England career. He barely moved for him all game or tracked back.

Totally agree. Gerrard basically deserted his post and left Baines on his own. Don't know whether it was through my blue tinted specs but Gerrard seemed to have an unwillingness to even pass to Baines that night.

I seem to remember that after the Germany game in 2010 it game to light that a German sports university had done a study on the England team and came to the conclusion that Gerrard was the weakest link due to his positioning and teamwork.
