It was fun to see the players up close. Everyone was loose and having a good time.
Best part was a drill where four teams of two attackers received crosses from Baines, Pienaar, and Osman among others. It was a race to ten goals. Jo and Saha nipped Cahill and Fellaini (I believe that's who was paired...) for the win.
Jo had two brilliant thumping left footed finishes. Moyes was providing token pressure at central defense which was fun to see. He stabbed one away from Yak which brought a frustrated shout of "Gaffer!"
I was directly behind the goal for that about ten feet away. Tim Howard is an absolute wall, making some excellent close range saves.
Then everyone went to the far end of the park for a little short field scrimmage. Yakubu went off on his own to work on finishing and some drill where he was hopping over cones on one foot.
Afterwards everyone took some time to sign autographs. Seattle's team, the Sounders, were practicing on the adjacent field. So on top of Everton I got to see our home squad including Kasey Keller and Freddie Ljungberg.
Among everyone Ljungberg was a total delight taking extra time for pictures and a word with the lingering fans. Also talking with some media I learned Freddie entertained a young Arsenal fan recently in Texas who was battling cancer. Freddie took him out to dinner discreetly and kept the whole thing out of the papers which I thought was pretty cool.
A camera crew from the team site was there interviewing some of the fans who came out to watch practice.
Finally my friend Andrew who writes for the MLS site is going to have an article about former Everton player Jimmy Gabriel who makes his home in the Seattle area and was at practice this week. Keep an eye out for that. Former Derby County and Nottingham Forest player Alan Hinton was present as well. He's done a lot of coaching in the Seattle area.
