Ive been doing some more thinking.

If we can keep this pretty little midfield of ours doing all the usual boss stuff then when he's back next year we're going to do all sorts of stuff.

Put simply: He'll score loads and link up like a beast.

We still need a winger, a right back, and a back up defensive midfielder. I'm sure you can buy in quality in those positions without breaking the bank.

When knocking up me goal compliation video I was looking back at the Yak's goals - there was a point at the start of last season when he'd just look at the goal and he'd score. Literally if he just tapped it towards the net he'd score. Then he went on a barren patch when Fellaini and Castillo were jelling and we were off form, then he got injured.

I love the Yak. He's one of the regular top goal scorers in the premiership and Moyes did well to buy him. He's proven, strong and still only 25. If you're Robbie Keane's, Darren Bent's go for £20million or so, the Yak was a reasonable bargin and worth at least £25million in todays market. And there's not many, if any, in the prem with his record.

Love him. Cant wait till he's back. Just think of the form we're in now but with an in form Yakubu? We'd be effin' ridiculous.

Sadly those players aren't the sufficent quality to break into the top 4, like this season and last season proved.

Last season we ran out of steam and the depth of the squad wasnt there. This season was a terrible transfer window (no new players till the final deadline), an influencial midfielder gone (Carsley), and half of the season was more of a pre-season to make everyone gel (Fellaini, Castillo, Baines, Jags, Arteta).

This season our team is better than Villa's IMO who are 3rd and have been top 4 for a few months. The thing Villa have this season that we never had at the start of the season is the same team from last year with a few additions early on. And with Chelsea and Arsenal in a year of turnaround (managers, players all coming and going, no stability) there was the opening they needed and they took it early.

But we do need to spend cash. But more so we need to get who we want in early and plan the season rather than doing everything last minute which we tend to do.

If he comes back at all

I think the one thing that a bit of money would afford us is getting players in earlier in the transfer window. At the moment we have to capitalise on every penny we can so selling clubs almost inevitably hold out as long as they can for another club to come in with a higher offer. Hence we always buy players at the end of the window and it takes a few months of the season for them to gel.
