Hi folks, this is my first post and I want to say that I've been planning to register here for quite some time now.

I've ran the Twitter account @EvertonAways since the beginning of the season to try and encourage our fans to stand up at the away games to enhance the atmosphere.

We'd love to know that despite travelling up and down the country in our thousands, why we only stand up and create an atmosphere at some grounds. Despite our efforts, this season has been no different. I'll break it down for you....

Villa Park - A good chunk of the lower stood all game and it was a decent atmosphere, plenty of songs.
The Hawthorns - All sat. One of the worst away games I can remember.
Liberty Stadium - Majority sat. Stood last 15-20 and ancient, ancient songs were sung. Beautiful...
Elland Road - 5000 Evertonians all stood. Despite a dismal performance, atmosphere was enjoyable throughout.
DW - Unsurprisingly, everyone sat down.
Loftus Road - Half of the lower stood up all game thanks to one piss-head calling us all 'miserable bastards'.
Craven Cottage - We stood the whole 2nd half. That game had 'Everton' about it for some reason.
The Madejski - The less said, the better. Awful away. All sat, obviously.
The Etihad - City has been our best away for years now. Everyone in the lower stood, proper loud at times.
The Britannia - Everyone sat. Period of noise after we scored until everyone fell like dominoes..
Upton Park - Everyone stood. Again, a proper Everton away.
St James' Park - About half stood. One of my best trips there.

Next up, Southampton away on Monday. I've a good feeling about that you know. The list above just shows you all that our away support is either a hit or a miss.

I know it isn't for everyone but ask yourself this - In the last year, what's been your favorite Everton away?
I can guarantee that most would say one where our fans stood. As I say, some people don't really care if we stand but I know it definitely makes it more enjoyable.

Goodison has been quiet for years but we'd love to make away games how they should be, ALL of the time.

Put it like this; Readings, QPR's and Wigans aside, we are the only set of away fans that sit down at most of the away games. I don't enjoy being laughed at by the Stoke's, Southampton's and the Norwich's if I'm being honest.

Who prefers to stand up at an away?

Lads, this is our best team in years. COYB.

This argument has been had quite a lot on here mate. General consensus seems to be people can do what they like.

I don't personally see why people have to stand to create atmosphere, and it ruins the experience for older people who have difficulty standing for long periods of time. Don't see why people who have supported the team for decades should suffer so others can stand up.

If you want to sing or cheer or w/e you can do it without standing.

IMO.

but why so quiet at Goodison ? any good reasons -
on saturday i could not believe my ears when i heard the public announcer at Goodison saying that anyone standing "will be EJECTED FROM THE STADIUM " - coming from Africa that bamboozled me -
we need to voice our support at Goodison as well to fire the players on and to influence the officials like other sides do

I think it's fair enough really, it's quite vigilant, but maybe it's necessary?

Just imagine if you were an 80 year old season ticket holder sat behind a loads of young lads who stood up for the whole game, or at action points. You'd be quite annoyed wouldn't you?

The fact is that people standing can ruin a game for some people.

Why pay for a seat if you're gonna stand up ??? you wouldn't do this on a train or at the cinema or at the opera or on a bus or on an aeroplane...I could go on.

All we need now is a post saying we should bring back a standing section and this will be just like every other thread about the subject

I think it depends where you sit tbh, if you get a seat in the lower gwldays you have to expect people to be standing up a bit or standing when there's a chence becasue thats what most people like to do in the gwladys, if someones wanting to sit down for all the match they should sit in the family end or somewhere else, but they can't complain if people are standing in the lower gwlayds

It's against the law to stand. You pay for a 'seat'. If others are obstructing your view then you're not in the wrong complaining about it.

Yes they can, you said it yourself that people can be ejected for standing so people obviously can complain.

This will go nowhere fast.

Evertonians just don't do campaigns. They do what they like, when they like.

One week GP or another away will be like a funeral the next it will be magically rocking so hard you think the roof will fall down.

According to some of the older souls twas ever thus. Real big atmospheres usually came with real big games which we haven't really had for maybe 20 years-ish.

I'd love to be able to stand but I'm not expecting things to change any time soon. For those who want to stand get as close to the middle of the lower Gladwys, everybody there stands all game.

It's a quack from me. Folks can do what they like so long as it doesn't spoil anyone elses enjoyment.

I will say this though. If some tit at any ground tries to pressure me to stand then, even if I'd rather stand I'll sit down and tell them to do the same.

Fully paid up member of the awkward gits I am.

Yeah i know what your saying, but i'm just saying if someone was going to buy a ticket and they wanted to sit all game they shouldn't buy a seat in the lower gwladys becasue people prefer to stand a bit more in that stand.

There are situations sometimes though where there aren't good seats anywhere else.

I really don't think people should be forced to sit in a certain section so that others can break the law. That's why there should be standing sections.
