atmosphere at Goodison is awful.

On a serious note is it poor, but coasting past an absolutely tosh Villa side to get out of 17th place isn't exactly scintillating stuff.

Exactly this. The ref was ok, Villa weren't arsed, their were no real 'incidents', we cruised it and the sun was shining.

Not ideal circumstances for Goodison to be at its moody best.

Play a crap team and unless something gets our backs up then we are happy to just watch the game.

Play a decent side and the place is a little bit better.

Play a rival and it's a bear pit.

Also I thought Villa were pretty quiet yesterday until N'Zogbia was subbed lol

There used to be banter with the away support now our fans just let them take the piss without a hint of a reply. The Kopites wouldn't let that happen. There was more noise at our place when we were fighting relegation and the was 25 to 30,000 there.

im in the bullens and could hardly hear them at all never mind non stop for 90 mins

Well go and sit on the Kop then, evertonians observe the game and when needed they'll make a racket, so if you just wanna sing and act like a bell join a choir

I don't think there is owt wrong with the atmosphere.

Raucous crowd behaviour is not something that can be manufactured nor just switched on and off.

When circumstances on the pitch dictate, there us no place quite like the Old Lady and many a visiting player has remarked about how the crowd intimidated him.

Some matches are quiet.....some are boisterous.

That's Everton, that.

And I would much rather us the way we are than have the stage managed attempt at engendering atmosphere at The Pit before every home game with giant banners and the community singing of a God awful dirge.

Or worse, the mind numbing inanity that normal people going Crystal Palace have to endure with these self appointed "ultras" thinking they have become the entertainment and indulging in moronic chanting all through the game.

We are who we are and we are what we are.

Now, that said......I think a more exciting and natural tone for the game was set when Z Cars started cranking up and the team raced out the tunnel toward the Street End.....the sense of anticipation was keen back then.

But this nonsense of Z Cars merely providing the soundtrack for the two teams sedately taking the pitch together and lining up to shake hands doesn't anything for me.

I was in the top balcony and could hear the Villa fans , they were not the loudest fans we have ever had but too be fair they did try and were quite vocal from where i was siting.
